This thing is brutal. The article makes clear it's coming from someone other than John Bolton, but it's consistent with a lot of Bolton's anecdotes. There are so many specific allegations here that it needs its own thread. The GOP is going to have quite a hangover when all this is over.

He has an affinity for those who are perceived to "take what they want". That is the truest form of "power". Its not money he is ultimately after. Its power. ( with power, comes money ) Power to make people do what you want with relative ease in doing so.

Money isnt the aphrodisiac. Power is. The ability to glance at a woman and its understood what you want. The ability to nod at a person, and they carry out what you want. Without ever having to put in "work" to get it.

When you have an ungodly amount of money, chasing more money no longer has the allure. Its the power you now crave. And you have no problem going at it " at all cost" because more times than not, you acquired your money in the same manner. So the process is the same, just the goal is different.

But to attain true power, you have to align yourself with some of the most megalomaniacal folks on the planet.

Now you see why he has an affinity for dictators.
