Seems like we might need a thread for this.

Granted: Michael Flynn (pardoned for 'any and all possible offenses' arising from or related to the criminal case against him and anything within the scope of the Mueller investigation).

I was about to ask can the next president un-pardon people from the previous president, but after looking online, it seems like that isn't possible. I'm reading that rumor about trump preparing to pardon like 20 people, some including his family and donors etc

Just a crazy thought to put in the Pardon thread. So the thoughts are out their the Trump might quit and have Pence pardon him blah blah blah. Well, the transition team has been selling items in preparation for the inauguration, including "46" hats and shirts. Of Trump does this, elevating Pence (who would officially be #46) in the final days, does the Biden team give him a cut...?

Again, just a crazy thought.

I think the better cliffhanger of this crazy season....

Trump holds his rally an hour before the inauguration, and makes a big show of resigning as president. He hands Pence a pardon that was already written for Trump, and Pence just smiles and walks off stage as members of the FBI walk up onto the stage to arrest Trump.

I mean, I like your thinking, but what would the FBI arrest him for? I still don't think he'd ever pardon himself. Why would he do that? He thinks everything he's doing is fine and he'd never admit to committing a crime. Just not in his nature.

I do hope your scenario plays out. There has to be some way to snap the lemmings out of it.

Hell, it's Pence's only chance to be able to run in 2024.

Trump will probably pardon Pence (just incase) first, then resign, and have Pence pardon him. I'm sure it wouldn't be Pence's first reach around experience.

Well, the Mueller report pointed out numerous instances that could be considered Obstruction of Justice, and Mueller was clear in saying that they did not charge Trump because of a DOJ policy against charging sitting presidents.

Don’t forget the campaign finance law violation that sent Michael Cohen to prison.

So I learned something new about the secretary of defense. I was checking out Chris Hayes and he had a retired Col. on talking about the meeting in the oval office when trump floated the idea of martial law. The colonel stated that the secretary of defense has the power to recall Flynn back to active duty and court marshal his arse for sedition for making comments suggesting declaring martial law. As slimy as Flynn is and as petty as it would be, I would love to see the next secretary of defense recall Flynn to active duty and court marshal his arse for sedition. He would lose all of his retirement and that pardon would be powerless to save him. He deserves it.

Just got home to see on teevee that the SDNY is going after Giuliani. Awesome. They "requested" all of his electronic devices. Guess Trump's preemptive pardon wasn't fictional. I hope he ends up flipping on Trump.

How would a pardon for federal crimes here have any effect on something that happened in Saudi Arabia?

iirc the journalist was an American citizen. maybe im wrong but i thought he was.

And it comes as no surprise that Trump and family operate in this manner. This is simply the tip of the iceberg. There is way more out there than is being reported.

I think permanent legal resident, not a US citizen. Either way, it’s disgusting to even consider this. It’s not like anyone in the US is going to prosecute the putative leader of Saudi Arabia.
