There's going to be a big celebration - and many other initiatives by the federal government. And they're all going to be very Trumpy. It even includes a UFC fight at the White House and a full-scale review of the Smithsonian collections to make sure their presentation fits "Trump's interpretation of history".

    Ummm.

Do they fight to the death?

And does the winner get extra food and supplies for their state/territory?

I mean, I guess "Patriot Games" is what he'd call the "Hunger Games". I just didn't think we'd quite got to that stage yet.
That was the same initial thought I had.

The group organizing the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary is offering access to President Donald Trump to donors who give $1m or more.

Freedom 250, a public-private partnership that launched last year and will help execute the celebrations, is soliciting donations and offering “bespoke packages” to donors, The New York Times reports.

The newspaper obtained a breakdown of the packages being circulated by fundraisers, which consist of five tiers.

Donors who give $1m or more — the “Patriot Sponsor” tier — will receive an “invitation to a private Freedom 250 thank you reception hosted by President Donald J. Trump, with a historic photo opportunity.”

The lowest sponsorship package begins at $500,000 to $999,999, which does not include access to Trump, but offers “VIP access, invitations and preferred seating at all Freedom 250 events.”

In addition to access to Trump, donors who give $2,500,000 or more will be offered a “VIP speaking role” at the 4th of July celebration.

The most expensive sponsorship package is priced at $10,000,000 or more.………

President Donald Trump’s ambassadors are begging companies around the globe to fund celebrations for America’s 250th birthday this year, a new report reveals.

U.S. diplomats at various foreign outposts — including in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore — have sought to rake in tens of millions of dollars for the anniversary extravaganza.

“I think there is a competitive environment between some of the ambassadors right now of who can raise the most,” Ted Osius, a former U.S. ambassador to Vietnam, told The New York Times.

America’s semiquincentennial arrives on July 4, 2026, but celebrations will span an entire year, kicking off on Memorial Day. Federal agencies and private partners have collaborated to plan and finance the events, according to the White House.

As part of the celebrations, a UFC event will be held on the White House lawn, and Trump has proposed constructing a victory arch near the Potomac River.

In February, Anjani Sinha, the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, told executives over a five-course meal, “I need your money,” according to a recording obtained by the Times. He noted that the funds would go towards a Rockefeller tree lighting and an American rodeo.……

A bronze statue of Caesar Rodney, a founding father and slave owner, was removed from public view in Delaware during the height of 2020’s racial justice protests. Now, it is set for a high-profile return.

The Trump administration plans to temporarily install the statue in the heart of the nation’s capital as part of the upcoming semiquincentennial celebrations marking America’s 250th birthday, Interior Department documents seen by The New York Times show.

The statue, which depicts Rodney on his famous 1776 midnight ride to cast a tie-breaking vote for independence, has spent the last six years stored in a New Castle warehouse. Its new destination is Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue — a federal park named in 1988 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The relocation of the Rodney statue is the latest move by the current administration to restore monuments toppled or removed during the racial reckoning that followed the murder of George Floyd. The statue will stand in Washington for up to six months, according to Interior Department documents reviewed by The Washington Post.……

A commission handpicked by the president could soon approve a design for a commemorative $1 gold coin that features a portrait of Donald Trump.

Despite a longstanding tradition of omitting sitting presidents from commemorative coin designs, a proposal before the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts suggests using a portrait of the president standing over his resolute desk with his knuckles pressed firmly down while staring into the camera.

The coin design is being considered as part of the Semiquincentennial Coin Program, in which the U.S. Treasury will mint a series of commemorative coins to honor the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The U.S. Mint is considering three designs, each featuring a different up-close portrait of Trump, for the 2026 commemorative $1 coin.

Several Democratic senators have pushed to pass legislation that would prohibit the government from minting coins featuring the likeness of a living or sitting president.

“President Trump’s self-celebrating maneuvers are authoritarian actions worthy of dictators like North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, not the United States of America,” Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley said in a statement.

“While monarchs put their faces on coins, America has never had and never will have a king,” Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto added. “Our legislation would codify this country’s long-standing tradition of not putting living Presidents on American coins. Congress must pass it without delay.”..........

"It's a very strong, very tough image of him," said Chamberlain Harris, a member of the committee and deputy director of Oval Office operations at the White House. "It's fitting to have a current sitting president who's presiding over the 250th year on a commemorative coin for said year."

Megan Sullivan, acting chief of the mint's Office of Design Management, said the treasury secretary presented a series of designs to Trump before submitting the proposal to the commission. Trump, she said, approved this image. The coin will have a denomination, though it has not yet been chosen, Sullivan said.
