After months of internal arguing among Democrats over whether to impeach President Donald Trump, the dam is finally breaking in favor of trying to remove him from office. The Washington Post reported that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would announce a formal impeachment inquiry on Tuesday, following a bombshell report that Trump illegally asked Ukraine’s government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, one of his political opponents. (He essentially admitted to having done so over the weekend.)

“Now that we have the facts, we’re ready,” Pelosi said Tuesday morning at a forum hosted by The Atlantic. At 5 p.m. the same day, she was back with more. "The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the constitution, especially when the president says Article Two says I can do whatever I want," referring to the segment of the Constitution that defines the power of the executive branch of the government. Pelosi's message was that checks and balances of those branches are just as central to the Constitution. And one more thing: "Today, I am announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry," she said at a conference broadcast on Twitter by the Huffington Post. ...

The whole country would be better off if it did not have a lawless President.

trump has shown time and again that he believes that the laws are not applicable to him. His congressional minions have excused his lawless actions as either ineptitude or ignorance, never once holding him accountable. Yeah, you may be right, trump will probably not be held accountable by the Senate, but at least the House will be on the record as to what is acceptable executive actions.

Yeah, but the foolish far left wing of the Democrats have given the Republicans plenty of ammunition to show that they have been wanting to N peach for anything and everything, including for:
the high crime of being mean to AOC and the rest of the squad,

The high crims of insulting NFL players, and

The high crime of saying shirthole countries.

One thing about Democrats, they always overplay their hand.

I'd be more interested in hearing from the people who are actually testifying and to see if their testimony was influenced by anyone.

Are you saying you don't believe Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate the Biden's, and using American funds to do so? And to do so outside American judicial process?

Probably more than Biden's corruption seems to be bothering people on the other side of the aisle, but damn that is a low bar.

I would like to know if the whistleblower in fact posed with that sour looking bunch of folks on the day the POTUS was sworn in.
I hope we'll prevent this site from turning into a silly Facebook meme site.

Can you show me the motion for impeachment, or where the Democrats as a whole said he should be impeached for those 3 items you outlined? EDIT: I know there were a couple, but there always are. Even Obama had someone try to move to impeachment. But, were those the specific things?

What corruption? What has been proven? Heck, what's the exact allegation? Seems like most of it hasn't added up from the little I've heard.

I'm on the record admitting that there have been some foolish calls and even votes for impeachment from a tiny fraction of Dems. Each time, those calls were shut down by Pelosi and the other Democratic leaders because they knew that seeking impeachment is a politically "no win scenario".

Will you, at the very least, admit that impeachment is something that the SotH did not want?

What are you using as evidence of Biden's corruption?

Again, I've said multiple times, if you want to talk about passing laws to prevent high level government officials and their immediate family from having financial ties to foreign companies (or any other company), I am right there with you.

But I somehow doubt that is what Trump is going for, given that he and his family have direct financial ties to companies that are directly effected by executive actions.

Is the photo wrong? Or is it one of those chain email type thingys
I think it frames it in a way that can be a bit misleading. It could be accurate, but the point of those kind of graphics isn't to be nuanced or accurate. I'd think when your party loses an election and the headway you've made may be undone, isn't exactly a time to bust out the champagne or celebrate.

Just when I start a thread where within I was complimenting everyone on being able to maintain civility.

It seems like you are beginning to lose your composure and that is how an already contemptuous topic can be sent into a tail spin. A reminder to resist the urge to post angry on the MCB board.

Not sure. It feels like the second one. But what intelligent discourse is to be had from that image? What is the point?
Memes are generally not allowed on the MCB board, however Beach Friends needed the one that he used in order to make his point, in which case it should be allowed. Whether the point is valid or deserves consideration, well, that is a question.

...No, the impeachment of trump has nothing to do with retribution and has everything to do with his lawless actions. I am willing to admit that there are some Dems in the House who want to "impeach the mf" by any means necessary, but you have to admit that their calls have been rebuffed by the House D's leadership, in particular Nancy Pelosi. If retribution is what they were seeking, they had the votes since Jan to impeach, and yet they didn't.

I'll ask again, will you admit that Pelosi has been staunchly against impeachment?
