After months of internal arguing among Democrats over whether to impeach President Donald Trump, the dam is finally breaking in favor of trying to remove him from office. The Washington Post reported that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would announce a formal impeachment inquiry on Tuesday, following a bombshell report that Trump illegally asked Ukraine’s government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, one of his political opponents. (He essentially admitted to having done so over the weekend.)

“Now that we have the facts, we’re ready,” Pelosi said Tuesday morning at a forum hosted by The Atlantic. At 5 p.m. the same day, she was back with more. "The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the constitution, especially when the president says Article Two says I can do whatever I want," referring to the segment of the Constitution that defines the power of the executive branch of the government. Pelosi's message was that checks and balances of those branches are just as central to the Constitution. And one more thing: "Today, I am announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry," she said at a conference broadcast on Twitter by the Huffington Post. ...

Just to be accurate here, I don't think it's relevant if the internal debate in the executive branch is about what is in the US's interests. That's ultimately the president's call and it doesn't really matter if the Pentagon dissented.

But if the nature of the debate is about what is legal as a matter of federal law, that's different.

I’m trying to get us on the same page.

I’m just talking about what we as participants in a republic find acceptable. Just because the president can do something, doesn’t mean he should or that all uses of that authority should be without consequences.

Whether or not we’ve thought to make a law about it is really a separate discussion.

I hear you - and you're right. But it's also a point without teeth, it's academic.

Doesn't the President decide what the country's Foreign policy or interests are?

chuck gave you the answer, but I’m really bemused by this. Do you think being elected president gives you the right to decide on US policy according to your own personal, political or financial interests?

Why do you accept this behavior from Trump, the man who would be king? The US fought to free themselves from a system that was slave to the whims of a king. I don’t want our president to be so emboldened that he thinks he can do whatever he wants, without regard to what is in the interest of the country, rather than what is in his own interest.

The truth is that Trumps supporters don’t really care why he withheld the aid.
    Ultimately that's probably true.
I think a lot of us think that Trump provides us our best path to keeping the WH. So, the alternative to Trump is not necessarily Pence but possibly a Democrat. That's not an acceptable exchange, because we see today's Democratic party as inherently corrupt and dangerous.

Besides, the Biden's need to be investigated

But Trump is above board? The only reason you want him investigated is to prevent him from beating Trump in 2020.

I need to be sure I understand you. Are you saying that you don't care that Trump had a corrupt intent in his actions, you're going to stick with him because you see the Democratic party as corrupt?

Stick with trump over ANY democrat in office at this point. I honestly like Yang, but don't think he has a chance in hell at the nomination.

This mindset, imo, is the result of 20 years of Fox News propaganda, and the willingness of people to swallow the crap that they are pushing whole.

Trump is one of the most corrupt individuals that has ever risen to President, probably the most corrupt. And we see this nonsense about the entire Democratic Party. It’s truly nonsensical.

Isn't that what CNN does also? CNN used to be my go to news site for up to date info, before it went political.

So, you’re partly right. In response to the ratings success of Fox, CNN has also gone political. What Fox does that CNN doesn’t do is demonize the opposition and push crazy conspiracy theories. They know they’re false, but they get great ratings and they push a narrative that ownership set up years ago. It’s like they are telling a certain part of the population a story and they believe it is true. Lol.

I‘m beginning to think there’s no piece of crappy propaganda that you wont believe. Or you are just totally trolling.

    CNN does this also.

CNN has been telling me for over 2 years that the elected president of the US is a Russian asset. You don't consider that a 'conspiracy theory' or is that a proven fact now? I guess you are either trolling or there is not piece of crappy conspiracy theory that you won't believe from CNN.

But yeah, not to demonize the Opposition like the EVIL other news station. Stay classy CNN.

You do realize that we think people who rely on MSNBC and CNN are pretty gullible too right?

Anyway,if it's okay with you I can tell you exactly where my disdain for the Demcrats actually comes from - it's watching and listening to Democrats. The debates have done exactly what I thought we would do - highlighted the fact that the Democrats are infested with people who will not tolerate blasphemy of the religion of cultural Marxism.

I don’t watch CNN. I already said they have chosen to follow the Fox model after seeing their ratings. I’m not sure what you think you proving to me. We could go back and forth on crappy stuff from Fox and CNN, I think maybe you would run out before me. 🤷‍♀️

But, there is a difference in degree in what snippets I see from Fox and CNN, mainly on clips on social media. Fox viewers seem to be an angry bunch. They think democrats are Marxists. Lol. They hate some of their fellow Americans. They hate immigrants. They hate Muslims. They are full on conspiracy buffs, who think Soros is the source of everything evil in the world.

Come to think of it I don’t know anyone who watches CNN like the dedicated Fox viewers watch Fox. But Fox viewers have been studied a bit and it does seem to color their view of things. Anecdotally I have family members who used to be normal (well, fairly normal) until they got hooked on Fox. Now they’re pretty extreme in their views. We don’t discuss current events at all anymore. They’re just angry all the time. It’s sad to me.
