Here we go again. Sotomayor of course is not as old as RBG was when the call came for her to step down, but I easily see Trump replacing Alito and Thomas in the next four years. If the unfortunate happens to a now 70-year old Sotomayor, SCOTUS would have a 7-2 MAGA bench. Jurisprudence would change as we know it. Or am I being more paranoid than I already am?

She should seriously consider it, IMO. I will forever blame RBG for not retiring while Obama was in office.

Everything I’ve read is she is in good health. Effectively manages her diabetes. She should be good for 4 mores years.

I don’t think the situation is comparable. RGB had been in bad health for almost 20 years with multiple cancers, including pancreatic which is just about the worst cancer. Sotomayor’s mom died at 94, so she will probably live another 25 years and could serve most of that.

That's not a comparable situation. The senate was Republican controlled.
