The Biden Campaign (according to the NY Times) is quietly testing the level of political strength VP Kamala Harris might
have if SHE were to be the nominee at the top of the ticket in November.

What are YOUR thoughts on the possibility of President Biden bowing out and VP Kamala Harris going up
    against Donald Trump?

I personally think she would have a better shot at defeating Trump than Biden would.
Not that I'm predicting she would win...but a least she'd have a better or more realistic chance.
    That's the key.....the word "realistic".
Some people on these political threads have done a great job about seeing things as they are.
    Others....well not so much.
Anyway...Back on focus..... President Harris or President Biden?
Who should be the Democratic nominee at the convention?

People have said that she is worlds better than she was during her 2020 presidential bid

A lot of people give her behind the scenes, boots on the ground work a lot of credit for the 2022 midterms

Thank you for your helpful post.
    Anyone else?

Dems should run a male Gov before Harris. Arguably, Dems running a female candidate is the reason Trump won in 2016.

lets be honest, Hillary Clinton was viewed as the 2nd Clinton. She rose the ranks thru Bill. She was never in government prior to 2000. She was never fully "received" after the whole Lewisnky ordeal and was not polished as a politician.

She carried some baggage into 2016, accumulated over the years prior as Sec of State that were recent enough that they were fresh in the minds of many voters.

    Harris doesnt have that issue.

And honestly, with Roe V Wade, if there is one candidate that can electrify a voting base, its a woman. Not saying that will happen, but she has a much better "voice" to connect with women than any man could.

Steve, I don’t think there is anyone here (who isn’t a Trump voter) that wouldn’t vote for Harris over Trump. Then again, they would all vote for Biden as well, so.

Biden has had a very successful presidency. The achievements are impressive. I think either one of them beats Trump.

Well there are millions of Americans who are not on here that might vote for Harris but wouldn't vote for Biden. Maybe a month ago they would've voted for him...but now they know better.

I know you don't want to hear this but Biden's polling is changing just fractions of points now. I really think he is near the basement of a Democratic candidate. I truly believe it will only go up with Kamala.

You also get to play with the themes of: youth vs old, and prosecutor vs felon.

People on this board claim to be Biden or bust, but that seems insane. I don't know who watched that Juneteenth celebration and said only that guy.

I agree she would connect with women, but I think Roe v Wade is going to carry that demographic no matter who the candidate is for the Dems. A male Gov would pass the "strength test" and pull men from Trump. Newsom would pull both demographics and his appearance standing next to Trump might pull more women than Harris.

I will also add that Hillary was a terrible selection for the reasons you gave and more. She's just not broadly likable.

I understand the appeal of Newsom. I think Newsom is probably the strongest candidate. He does have to overcome the California stigma though.

Also, Trump might dodge a debate with Newsom. After all, he did well in debating Desantis on Fox News moderated by Hannity.

I frankly don't care. I'm off the opinion Biden is at the floor of a Democratic candidates support. I think any of them will bring in more votes.

ive said before Newsom would be ideal. But that was months ago.

But with only months to go, do you supplant with someone relatively unknown to many, or someone who carries name recognition, having spent last 4 years as VP?
