I just heard the call, they didn’t even try to hide that it was from them. It was targeted to inner city area codes all over the country. It represented that it was from a African America voting organization, a female voice that sounded African American, and posed as a warning that voting by mail could open the voter up to police serving old warrants and credit card companies finding people for old debts, plus letting the CDC find you for forced vaccination.

Just your basic racist voter suppression tactic. Scum.

I have been sort of following this guy for years now because I find him fascinating. I think there's an element of Andy Kaufman in his activities (sort an intentional ridiculousness), but primarily he sees himself as some sort of Roger Stone political prankster and 'operative' for the cause. The problem is that he's not very capable nor particularly intelligent, and he seems to have a very poor sense of where the line between provocative but legal or at least gray area, versus actually being illegal either criminally or civilly (tort).

I'm surprised he's made it this long without being arrested.

this post is related to something I just said in the mail-in voting thread. It's clear that this is an issue that has been targeted by GOP 'operatives' and the Trump campaign. We also learned that there was a plan in 2016 which targeted African American voters.

this is a legitimate concern about the process. When we have political officials or people operating as such (including under false pretenses like this) that have a material impact on voter participation, through seeking suppression, we're dealing with a legitimate issue. This appears to be a clearer attempt to undermine voter participation. I just wanted to point this one out as a contrast to what was posted in the other thread just now.

Going forward, I think we have to be careful of how we talk about mail-in voting because the prevalence of it as a topic and trend on social media and in political discussions is only increasing and I expect it to become even more frequent in the coming weeks leading up to the election.
