My wife and I are still thinking it through. We both want to be among the numbers at the main protest downtown this evening, but have concerns about safety (Texas) and logistics. We do have a secure parking option but it would be about a 2 mile walk there and back.

Another option is a recently organized protest in our previous neighborhood, also this evening. It’s urban and densely populated, so turn out should still be strong.

Interested in hearing from others. Are you going? Do you have concerns about going? Other thoughts?

Well, it was both an amazing and tragic event here in Salt Lake City. We started marching from Pioneer Park and working our way up to the Capitol, and my wife's feet started hurting so we decided to break a bit early. About 10-15 minutes later, about 3-4 audible rifle shots were heard and 1 person was apparently critically injured. I really hope they are okay and make it through...i hate that shirt like this happens as literally everyone was peaceful, respecful, kind, etc...They won't take away how much solidarity and energy there was there, though. We took over downtown:

    Did they find the gunman?

They did. He was hiding amongst protestors. This was after he shot at least one person, and I’ve learned this person has died. He might have come down / across from his vantage point and tried to hide after shooting

A hero who noticed a rifle in a black bag the guy was carrying outed him.

    Thankful for our amazing SLCPD

This was my favorite sign I saw yesterday but there were so many good ones.

I carried a sign for the first time ever.

    It read:

"Not Much of a Sign Guy but This shirt is Ridiculous!"

I forgot about the profanity filter and was trying to figure out why you were wearing a ridiculous shirt

As much as I wanted that to be an accurate translation (b/c it is hilarious) according to some of the commenters, it is courtesy of "Waterford Whispers" (basically the Irish version of The Onion)
I would be curious to hear an accurate translation, too.
