My wife and I are still thinking it through. We both want to be among the numbers at the main protest downtown this evening, but have concerns about safety (Texas) and logistics. We do have a secure parking option but it would be about a 2 mile walk there and back.

Another option is a recently organized protest in our previous neighborhood, also this evening. It’s urban and densely populated, so turn out should still be strong.

Interested in hearing from others. Are you going? Do you have concerns about going? Other thoughts?

Damn, i don't get to say this too often - but im really proud of my hometown(Gulfport, Mississippi) for showing out today ✊

It was inspiring pretty much everywhere. People in MN who were told to stay home for their own safety because a fanatical murderer was on the loose said “Nope! Not stopping us!” People in DC who Trump threatened with arrest and worse if they protested “his” parade, said “Not stopping us!”

Just got back from the Portland one. I left the kids and went alone because I was a tad worried. It turns out I was being over protective.

If this wasn't the biggest protest I have been to, I am forgetting one. The route was the massive one we have. It started is the Waterfront, stretched up 8 blocks on Naito Pkwy, then west on Orchard to the Federal Building, which was boarded up but vacant, turned north past that and the courthouse, and then turned back east to the Waterfront where it crossed the Hawthorne (I think, I get my bridges confused) Bridge and then north again for 8 blocks and then back across the Steel (?) Bridge to the park, so it was at least a couple of miles. Both bridges were full of people, once it stretched out, and I never saw a break in the crowd.

This was easily the least counter protested protest I have ever attended and that isn't even close. I didn't see one - not one(!)- Proud Boy or Patriot Prayer jackwagon or random rednecks from Albany or Vantucky (Vancouver, WA) or white supremacists from East Oregon. Not even a drunk yelling at us.

It was the Disney Parade with "fork Your Birthday!" chants

All went well. The heat was the worst of it. I’m not great at estimating crowd sizes but it was unsurprisingly a very large turnout.

Well, it was both an amazing and tragic event here in Salt Lake City. We started marching from Pioneer Park and working our way up to the Capitol, and my wife's feet started hurting so we decided to break a bit early. About 10-15 minutes later, about 3-4 audible rifle shots were heard and 1 person was apparently critically injured. I really hope they are okay and make it through...i hate that shirt like this happens as literally everyone was peaceful, respecful, kind, etc...They won't take away how much solidarity and energy there was there, though. We took over downtown:
