This is going to need a thread as we move forward - there are now clear signs that Trump supports a new, critical if not dubious approach on vaccination, and his HHS nominee RFK Jr. regularly espouses eating raw milk and raw meat . . . dietary components most experts agree are more dangerous than their heated counterparts.

Health is certainly one of those areas were anti-institutionalism and turning to popular influencers over medical science comes with genuine risk of harm.

Today Trump provided his most clear indication that he is a vaccine skeptic - claiming (falsely of course) that the USA doesn't "do as well" as other nations that use no vaccines at all.

Florida’s attorney general has threatened to pull funding from Catholic schools unless they allow their students to opt out of vaccine requirements.

James Uthmeier, the attorney general, revealed on X that he had sent a letter to the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops (FCCB) expressing concern that schools within the faith may refuse to grant religious exemptions for vaccinations for the upcoming school year.

The letter, which was sent on July 31, is the latest in a series of pushes by lawmakers to change Florida’s vaccine mandates.

According to Uthmeier, at least one diocese appears to have “embraced” a position raised by the National Catholic Bioethics Center that the schools cannot offer exemptions on religious grounds because the Catholic Church does not teach that use of vaccinations produced in cell lines derived from the tissue of an aborted fetus is “intrinsically evil.”……….

There is no link between receiving the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine before age 2 and being diagnosed with autism, according to a new study of more than 2.5 million U.S. children.

“These results reinforce existing evidence supporting the safety of MMR vaccination,” the medical research scientists, from University of Washington, wrote last week. The research supports decades of work with similar results, including by the World Health Organization, which said earlier this year there was no evidence that vaccines cause autism.

The results come at a fraught time for U.S. public health, and in particular for childhood vaccinations, including the MMR shot. Federal data reveals that MMR vaccination rates have been steadily dropping since before the pandemic and cases of life-threatening measles are at a 35-year high.

As measles outbreaks rage across the country, public officials’ messaging has been bewildering at times.……

as in 24 7 atomic meltdowns from the trump right wing orbit and the right wing media universe where the right wing trumpers will be yelling and screaming on there cable news shows like the many crazy guests on the jerry springer show during the 1990s and the 2000s

So the US President now officially relates autism to vaccines - despite this being against the legitimate scientific consensus and with no meaningful evidence despite years of desperately looking for it.

There is an explanation for the higher rates, you dumBass...

The medical community understands more about autism than it did decades ago to where it recognizes more neurodivergent conditions as autism... just like it understands more about practically every other disease and condition out there. People are so forking stupid.

Yes, there is a reason, and we know the reason. Our understanding of autism has grown. The diagnoses expanded, the diagnostic tools available changed, and we learned more.
