    Scary stuff and I'm sure the Million Moms are fine with this

    At least it's "extra credit" and not required viewing (not yet anyway)

    There’s learning and then there’s “learning.” According to a report in the Huffington Post on Tuesday, students in a 10th-grade history class at Maumee High School in Ohio were offered extra credit to do a little of the latter by watching videos produced by Prager University (PragerU). That is not, in fact, a university, but a right-wing nonprofit and YouTube channel founded by talk show host Dennis Prager.

    PragerU videos are often stocked with historical revisionism, xenophobic and anti-Muslim propaganda, rants decrying feminism, climate change denial, and rhetoric asserting the “left” is a pathology centered around literally destroying the U.S. It also promotes creationism and flirts with far-right rhetoric like decrying the demographic “suicide” of Europe. (Prager himself has bemoaned that it “is idiotic that you cannot say the N-word.”) PragerU videos are often littered with factual inaccuracies and tend to hype up a conservative victimization complex..................

    According to HuffPo, some of the videos assigned had titles including “Build the Wall,” “Why the Right Was Right,” and “The Left Ruins Everything.” Students were reportedly asked among other things to identify the videos’ “most important messages.” News that PragerU was being taught in the classroom comes the same month as its recent push to break into K-12 education (PragerU Educators and Parents, or PREP), though the teacher involved assigned the videos last year.

    To give an idea of what kind of stuff PragerU thinks schools across the country should be teaching, course guides offered in the promotional push included sections such as “Conservatives Are the Real Environmentalists” and “The Ferguson Lie,” per HuffPo. True-false questions for test preparation offered in PREP materials include “nearly all the major 19th- and 20th-century breakthroughs in health care were made by Western Europeans and North Americans” and “Big Tech with its control of search algorithms, its shadowbanning, and deboosting supports political correctness and the resulting limitations of freedom.”.............

    Article explaining the One Million Moms comment

    To them a cookie commercial saying that gay people are people and should be treated like people is the real indoctrination
    ===================================

    ......Here is the One Million Moms description of that ad: “The commercial focuses on the mother approving of her daughter’s girlfriend, but the father is hesitant and has reservations. He later has a change of heart and even displays his acceptance of her lifestyle by painting his picket fence in rainbow colors to further show his approval. The advertisement ends with: ‘A loving world starts with a loving home.’ Followed by: ‘Show you’re a proud parent #PROUDPARENT.’ ”

    Lovely, isn’t it? Well, not to One Million Moms. The group is downright apoplectic.

    The Oreo ad, the group charges, is an attempt to “normalize the LGBTQ lifestyle” by “featuring a lesbian couple, to brainwash children and adults alike by desensitizing audiences.”....................

    I'd love for my daughter to be given such an assignment. Easy credit to just write "The most important message in this video is the same as it is in all of the PragerU videos...Right wing hypocrisy and cowardice know no bounds."

    When the teach flipped out, then it'd be time for some fun!

    Then there this - remember the "imported workers" textbook scandal from a few years back?

    (Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump on Thursday denounced school curricula that emphasize the impact of slavery and racism on American history and blamed “left-wing indoctrination” for nationwide protests against police brutality.

    “Patriotic moms and dads are going to demand that their children are no longer fed hateful lies about this country,” Trump said in a speech at the National Archives in Washington.

    The president claimed U.S. schoolchildren are taught that the U.S. was “founded on the principle of oppression, not freedom” and that they should “feel ashamed of their own history,” a curriculum he called “radical.” ................

    Another example of Trump being a symptom of a much larger disease. Media in this country, particularly the right-wing, has undermined objectivity and abolished norms of civility. Each successive generation weened on the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and now Andy Ngo, etc. gets worse. You can't put the poop back into the goose.

    I know it sounds grim but America is living on borrowed time. Even if you have moderate politicians you will never reign in the hyper-partisan media and the tens of millions of tribal voters it creates. Anyone with kids (or anticipates having them) should be giving serious thought to an 'exit plan.' There are greener pastures out there in this world and no shortage of civilized democracies that aren't handcuffed by an antiquated form of government and a citizenry obsessed with bizarre minutia like firearms.
