We obviously disagree on certain subjects, and can really get after each other in our passionate defense of what we feel is correct and true. But I think it's important to step back occasionally, and realize that without a left, there could be no right. And without disparate opinions, there could be no debate. And without debate, we'd never have the opportunity to grown and evolve and realize that we're all together in this continuing experiment of a democracy.
Thanksgiving was first instituted as a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and I think it stands as a great example to us that, if even in more perilous times, the nation could stop and be thankful for the blessings in their lives, then we should be able to do the same in our decidedly less contentious ones.
So from the crosswatt household to each of yours, I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving.
