Sounds like the Dems are doing things according to the customary practice and the public will get a chance to vote on the plan this November - I don’t see how this lawsuit goes anywhere. I know there are a bunch of state and federal legislators who are probably going to lose their jobs. The polling right now indicates solid public support for the plan. Oh, well, maybe the GOP House members from CA should speak to the lunatics in TX, rather than filing this lawsuit.

Seeing the TX GOP kidnap and hold a state legislator hostage kinda crystallizes how important it is to get rid of the current GOP. They’re out of control, they respect no laws right now.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A federal judge has ordered Mississippi to redraw its Supreme Court electoral map, after finding the map dilutes the power of Black voters.

U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock ruled the map, which was enacted in 1987, violates the Voting Rights Act and cannot be used in future elections.

The Mississippi branch of the American Civil Liberties Union helped litigate the lawsuit, arguing the map cut Mississippi’s Delta region — a historically Black area — in half.

“This win corrects a historic injustice,” said Ari Savitzky, a senior staff attorney at the ACLU Voting Rights Project. “All Mississippians will benefit from fair district lines that give Black voters an equal voice — and new generations of Black leaders an equal chance to help shape the state’s future by serving on the state’s highest court.”

The lawsuit, which was filed on April 25, 2022, argued the map diminished the Black vote in the Central District.……

This is the same rep they locked inside the chamber and refused to let her leave unless she signed a “consent” form to have a TX Marshall accompany her everywhere for the next 2-3 weeks.

She is a black woman, and it is no coincidence that they treat her like this. They still think she is a slave evidently, and needs to get back in her “place”. These are the worse people. Just fhe worst.

That has a real chance of happening and I hope to see it. They're counting hard on Latinos in Texas (especially in the Valley) who only voted Republican in the last election to show up and continue voting Republican. If those Latinos have woken up to see how monumentally stupid that decision was due to all of the ridiculous authoritarianism of the Trump and Abbot administration and their hate boner for anybody with brown skin, it could backfire in spectacular fashion.

Just look at the dive Abbot's approval has taken since the start of the year. It's due to the anger over his school voucher grift, poor response to the floods in the Hill country and now this redistricting fight. People hate Governor Hot Wheels.
