    This is a great free newsletter from Tom. I enjoyed reading it. I don’t think you have to be a subscriber to read it, but let me know if the link doesn’t work.

    I agree with his summation

    “I know this has been something like a lecture. But it matters. If we continue to throw words around without knowing what they mean, and try merely to squeeze incantatory power from them for sheer effect, we will numb ourselves to real threats. We can only cry wolf so many times before we cease to care about wolves—or lions, or bears, or real enemies at the gates.”

    People use words so frequently out of context, that people are starting to forget what those words are actually describing.

    As with the political labels and all the other ways we've sodomized the use of language. Edward L Bernays and Lee Atwater come to mind.
