Well being from a firm blue place allows much freedom. Being in a purple place with a real race you can't be as left it is a fact. They have freedoms that others don't they can be as progressive as they want. Even though lots would argue that they are making it tougher on the rest because they have a snowballs chance in hell getting any ultra progressive stuff passed and just giving the fox and others talking points.

My cynical side says this is what Kamala's rallies looked like, including the one in DC right before the election

At the end of the day:

Rally sizes doesn't matter

Fundraising doesn't matter

Protests and boycotts don't matter

Online outrage or support doesn't matter

Media coverage doesn't matter

Not to say those things are important and needed and crucial

But the only thing that matters is voting

If the above doesn't translate to a huge turn out and includes people who haven't voted in a while or ever, people who vote 3rd party, people who didn't vote in protest and people who usually vote Republican what good is any of it

If it doesn't translate to votes who cares that the rallies look like Woodstock or a gazillion dollars are raised?

Summary of the 2nd link is the media portraying this as a democratic strategy rather than about incompetence, national security, or circumventing traditional comms.
