The MX Senate granted entry to U.S. armed forces into MX for what they are calling "joint military exercises" between May and June, including members of the 82nd Airborne, the 7th Special Forces Group, and an AC-130, and a whole lot of equipment. The interesting part is when and where these exercises are taking place. Main exercises will be carried out in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and Tapachula, Chiapas. Cuidad Juarez obviously is a hotbed of drug trafficking on the Northern border with the U.S. Chiapas, on the other hand, is the border State to Guatemala and a hotbed of political dissent; the exercise here is allegedly "awareness of weapons of mass destruction".

The U.S. presence is said to last from May 21st to June 28th. The MX presidential elections (as well as many governorship elections) are on June 2nd.

Crenshaw never found a military action he was not giddy to spend tax money on.
