I think I read that Manchin said he'd support $11 an hour and then indexing to inflation.. I think they could probably get $12 or $13 an hour passed which would still be a decent improvement.

That’s the Republicans (and the Republicans in dem clothing) for ya — “hey you poor people, we’re gonna give you a raise! Yeah it’s not even close to what it should be but in 5 years you’ll be making 33% less than you should be making now!!”

I mean I never forgot he torpedoed Obama's hedge fund tax. Forget policy if he did his job, Feinstein should have never embarrassed herself in the ACB hearings. They knew her dementia had advanced far enough she couldn't do her job when she ran for reelection 2018.

The Democrats have control of the House, Senate and White House. They campaigned on the $15 minimum wage. It's on them if they don't want it passed.

But they do want it passed. It's not going to be in this bill primarily because the Senate parliamentarian said it couldn't be included in a budget reconciliation bill.

I'm pretty sure there will be a minimum wage proposal sometime this session. This is hardly over.

In reality, this is how things should work: people from the same party can have differences of opinion about different issues. Unlike the GOP, in which everyone must be lock and step, and disagreement with the leader is not allowed.

Because their hangup isn't whether it should be increased, but the amount. $15 might be appropriate in most metro areas, but in states like WV with a large part of their workforce in rural areas, $15/hour simply wouldn't be feasible. Manchin has already stated he wants a higher minimum wage, just not $15/hour.

Regardless, as stated previously, they can't include it in the bill. The vote was literally pointless. They can, and I suspect probably will debate and vote on a lower minimum wage increase.

You're not being honest. Not every Democrat campaigned on a $15 minimum wage. Those that support it will vote for it. Those that don't will offer solutions.

Yep. Or that there is nuance in debates. These false "only this or that" options are aggravating to no end.
