This is why Trump didn’t get hit with a bullet. His ear would be gone. It was a shard of glass from the teleprompter evidently. We got lucky as a nation today.

Okay. But I still maintain that his ear would be far more damaged by a bullet. Maybe it was a bit of shrapnel if one of the bullets hit the metal riser or something. I’m sure we will hear about it eventually.

I’ve been thinking about your response and you may be right but I’d counter with this. It’s hard to determine who worse than the other. People on the left mostly follow people on the left and listen and watch things that support the left. The same goes for the right. They tend to live in echo chambers and only see negative things about the other side and positive things about their own. It’s a form of brainwashing propaganda. And I say that because of the way election results finish especially for the president. The elections are typically close with I think last election Trump got 75m votes and Biden got 81m and I think this election Trump will get more. Of those 75m I would say less than 1% are crazy and same on the dems. They may be the loudest but they are a huge minority. The rest of the voters I bet 90% are voting party lines regardless of who the candidate is because regardless of the person running their core political beliefs are in line with that party. The other 9 +/- % actually look at what the person has done and what they stand for, who they are and what’s important to them. So I don’t think one party has more crazy people than the other by a large margin I just this they are the ones loudly screaming on social media.

Let’s be honest. We are told if you vote for republicans then you hate America and democracy and want fascism and if you vote for democrats you hate America and want socialism or communism. We are being trained that voting outside our party will lead to the demise of America and our way of life. If we look back it’s been said since probably the late 60s and we are still here. I don’t know I guess eventually one side will be right but I don’t see it happening in my lifetime.

I used to think the way you do until I actually saw the behavior by Trump and at his rallies. Sometimes you have to see what the other side is doing or saying to get a clear picture.

Edit to add: the above isn’t really accurate. My first impression when Trump announced his bid was that this is a joke. He’s not a serious person, more a celebrity clown, an oaf. When he won, I was pretty horrified, his ignorance and crassness were so evident. When he picked Dan Coats, McMaster and Kelly I was somewhat comforted. They are not idiots - I’ve seen presidents grow into the job, maybe he will do okay.

I was a fool for thinking that. He was worse than I could have ever imagined. And then he tried to stay in power after he lost to Biden. I’ve seen him say and do absolutely crazy things. And the GOP just rolled over and took it. Worse, they got on board and started aping his pathologies.

Now if he gets elected again, there will be no more adults in the room. He cannot win, it’s as dire of a situation as I have ever seen. He would try to destroy this country and everything it stands for at home and abroad. Some extremely scary people, like Flynn, Stone, and Bannon, and even worse will be on the inside.

So I didn’t decide I hated him immediately. He earned it.

Yeah, I'm not seeing any video showing a teleprompter exploding or anything. That would have been clear on the video. It's looking like the bullet caused the injury. I will say a bullet doesn't have to directly impact you to cause injury. If it passes close enough, it absolutely can cause injury.

Whether it's glass or the bullet doesn't really much matter though. It was still an attempt on his life...most likely.

I think it was extremely close. 2 or 3 inches to the left and he'd almost certainly be dead. He was very lucky.

Well, yes, but it wasn’t close to a direct hit. Like I said his ear wouldn’t be intact if the bullet even grazed it. The power of a round from a rifle does a lot more damage.

A bullet passing very close can cause injury. The air around the bullet can expand rapidly and think of it like how high pressure gas escaping can cut things. It will cause damage. Inches closer and Trump is a goner, inches farther and he doesn't have an injury at all. It was a freak shot.
