Former President D. Trump has been indicted by a New York Grand Jury. There will be much to talk about on this topic because this is just the first step in a lengthy process.
Possibly it is worthy of its own thread here rather than posting about Trump's indictment in already existing threads?

    Roberts and Barrett

They favor letting the natural appeals process occur.

    I agree.

I would have preferred a suspended sentence with the same amount of years that the last person convicted of similar crimes received.

edit: and of course we all should prepare for him to claim exoneration because the Judge "tossed out" his conviction.

Yeah - but the opposite is true. Having a sentence (of any kind) means the conviction is permanent unless overturned. It really doesn’t matter but the funny thing is that we know it matters to Trump.

Would it not matter in those states and countries that has laws limiting the actions of a convicted fellon?

I read an article a few months ago that said Barrett may become the new Anthony Kennedy. Both sides will need her
vote. Kennedy as we know was the swing vote for many years

I get that, but that's never gonna stop trump, elected R's and state media from repeating that trump was exonerated.

SFL was holding out that this wouldn't happen, and Trump wouldn't go down as the first convicted felon president.

    It matters.

I don’t think there are many limitations - and to the extent that state law regulates felons, Trump’s official tasks as president would not be impacted because the federal supremacy clause overrides those state laws. But I can’t really think of an example.
