It looks like it's currently at high tide. When it is low tide the water might not even be in view. Up there the tides can go up and down a lot. Sometimes ten or twelve feet.

Reminds me of the old bear saying you’re supposed to refer to in case of a bear attack:

“If it’s black - fight back.
If it’s brown - lay down.
If it’s white - good night.”
