Had to be stated. Just reinforcing that such posts as the ones I respond to from certain posters are flotsam and jetsam.

But to be fair, it's a rational and valid post when the idiot governor of this state, who's supposed to be the law and order governor, doesn't follow the law.

You must not be from around these parts. This is a safe place. In this thread, everyone hates (or should hate) Jeff Landry. No need for attacks here. :)

Just another law that is likely unconstitutional.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Critics of a new Louisiana law, which makes it a crime to approach within 25 feet (7.6 meters) of a police officer under certain circumstances, fear that the measure could hinder the public’s ability to film officers — a tool that has increasingly been used to hold police accountable.

Under the law, anyone who is convicted of “knowingly or intentionally” approaching an officer, who is “lawfully engaged in the execution of his official duties,” and after being ordered to “stop approaching or retreat” faces up to a $500 fine, up to 60 days in jail or both. The law was signed by Gov. Jeff Landry, a Republican, Tuesday and goes into effect Aug. 1.
Edit: And the hits keep on coming...
Louisiana will become the first state to require the Ten Commandments be displayed in all schools and colleges that receive public funding, if Gov. Jeff Landry signs a new bill into law.
Catch up quick: Rep. Dodie Horton (R-Haughton) wrote HB71 to require the text of the Ten Commandments be printed on a poster no smaller than 11 inches by 14 inches.
    Blessed be the fruit.

I bet that Landry is itching at the opportunity to grant a pardon to an individual that intentionally kills someone during a protest.
In another measure that could run afoul of the First Amendment, the Louisiana Legislature approved a bill Wednesday to outlaw protests, demonstrations or any other gatherings within 50 feet of anyone’s home — even on a public street — if it threatens to disrupt a person’s use of their home.

House Bill 737, sponsored by Rep. Kellee Hennessy Dickerson, R-Denham Springs, received final passage in a 72-14 House concurrence vote on a Senate amendment that narrowed the proposal.

The measure prohibits anyone from petitioning, picketing or assembling with others within 50 feet of a home in a manner that interferes with or “threatens to disrupt” a person’s right to control or use their home. This could apply to gatherings as small as two people.
BATON ROUGE, La. — House bill 383 has been controversial. From Bourbon Street to second lines, the culture of New Orleans often overflows onto its streets. Often, without permits.
New Orleans culture bearers and allies have spoken out loudly against its passage. A video put together by Empower You Nola, the Feather Fund, and Data News Weekly urges people to call their lawmakers in dissent.

There have been some amendments made.
The law now reads that the driver must feel like the immediate danger or harm would be caused by the people blocking the road. And that any damage caused cannot be intentional.

These laws will make it legal for you to take action against another individual based on how YOU FELT at the time.

    - Did they verbally or physically threaten you?
    A. Nah, I just did not FEEL safe
    - You Good! :9: :9: :9:
