There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

Their daughter is anything but sane. Taking care of her mental health is what got them both to pull back from their pro and anti Trump stuff.

It wasn't my intent to make light of her mental health, I'm guessing her parents constantly arguing may be a contributing factor, I hope things get better for her....

At this point, they need to make her get off of social media. She started as just another kid expressing her political opinions. The Internet is full of those, but who she is got her attention. Now she has grown men constantly sexualizing her and the media scrutinizing every little thing she does. Half her social media posts are now her crying about those two things.

When she started her parents and her aunt were her problem. Now things are good with them and it's the rest of the world that's the issue. No 15 yo girl can maintain their mental health under the kind of microscope she's under.

Oh, I read a few pages. Enough to make my head hurt. I used to prepare filings for an attorney in Lafayette and I wouldn't put my name on any of these documents. If I were a judge, I'd summarily dismiss it after reading the first page. Probably why I could never be a judge. :hihi:
And things like this (and that) are why Team Trump is now 1-41 in court.

I'm thinking we, as a country, should totally reconsider leaving the losing incumbent candidate in office for two solid months after losing reelection. I mean, it's happened so infrequently in our nation's brief history that we've never had to really think about it but if having Trump's crazy arse in the White House for two months after losing doesn't scare us into fixing this, I don't know if anything will.

Holy Schnikies! You read 36 pages of that? (Someone else read it and you stumbled across it on Twitter, didn't you?)

I skimmed it all. One day I might read it all. It's just a nice way to shut down the conspiracy theories.

Someone, I think it was Monte, pointed out that Sidney Powell appeared to have manipulated her evidence in attempting to claim that documents were undated when they actually were dated. I found this thread, which is about the State of Georgia’s response to one of her lawsuits. It appears that the State of GA is alleging she did just that. This is a decent thread pointing out that GA is just shredding the lawsuit, and I just cannot see any future for these bogus legal challenges. The first tweet points out that Powell’s “expert” apparently claims to have invented “electronic mail” 🙄

So I'm reading how republicans in GA are starting to push for a required photo ID for mail-in voting
Not at all surprising! I foresee the Republicans requiring that and notarized copies of utility bills, mortgage/rental statements.

    Hate to see it.

China Virus??? That's funny, me and my peeps call it the Trump Virus!

The world looks at the United States as The Leaders of The World and as the leader of the US, the world tends to follow the POTUS' lead. When the virus grew beyond the borders of China, Trump failed to lead the WORLD outta danger! His failure of leadership makes him personally responsible for this global pandemic!
