This is approximately how I expect the election to turn out. I'm basing it on the observation that the primary motivation for voting has become fear and anger. In each state, I made my guess as to which party and candidate would have the greatest amount of fear and anger directed at them and gave that party and candidate a loss in that state. My guesses are based on a lot of things that have already happened, are trending to happen, and few things that I expect to happen between now and election day. I expect very narrow margins of victories in the vast majority of states, so I don't expect the popular vote to be as lopsided as the electoral college totals indicate.

I liken this to looking at a sports team's schedule and penciling in expected wins and losses. I'm not arguing that this is definitely how it will turnout. I'm not saying or thinking I'm definitely right. If anyone insists that I'm definitely wrong, then I readily concede that I'm probably wrong. This is just how I think the election will more or less turnout. If anyone would like to take a stab at how they think it will turnout, this is the tool that I used to create the election map below.

There's no longer such a thing as a politician backing him/her self into a corner. That stopped being true in 2016. The debates will be a joke because Trump's plan for debates is his plan for everything else; lie, lie, lie and when cornered, lie again. Biden simply has to commit to memory some of the most blatant lies and the consequences from over the last 3 years and bring them up during the debate. And if that fails, he can just lie just like Trump.
The best thing he can do is not engage. Trump's going to rant and lie like he always does. Biden just needs to use the Vincent Gabini opening statement whenever it gets to be his turn to speak, and then just carry on like Trump's not even there.

Well, I mean, Sleepy Joe kinda feeds into that lack of enthusiasm. :hihi:

I still think Biden picked the wrong election to run. Had he run in 2016, he would have won and we'd be having a much different discussion now. I get why he didn't though.

This isn't the thread for it, and probably unrealistic, but I want Mark Cuban to run. I'd vote for him over Biden/Trump every day of the week.

Yeah. Let's have Cuban run as a 3rd party and hand Trump another 4 years to destroy our republic. That's (not) a great idea.

I really don’t know if Trump will agree to any debates. I think the campaign has already floated that idea, but I’m not certain.

You just know he would say something crazy, like his ideas for shining light into people’s bodies to kill the virus, or washing peoples lungs with disinfectant.

At the same time, Jr. is all over Twitter claiming that Biden has "refused additional debates" and is "scared to come out of the basement" while he's been out of the basement for quite some time now. He's just not attention whoring himself whenever he does something.

They've agreed to the traditional three, but the Trump campaign has actually been trying to add a fourth, which I would take as a sign that their internal polling is in line with what we're seeing elsewhere.

While I agree, he's backed himself into a corner on a few issues that I think Trump will hammer hard at. I think the debates and format will be pivotal. I'm really curious to see Biden's approach with Trump. His Democrat debate performances wasn't exactly great and he'd have to improve a lot to really get voters motivated to do their part.

    We'll see.
I sincerely expect Trump to accuse Biden of being low energy and a fragile old man. Then I expect Biden to counter by challenging Trump to a push up contest in the middle of the debate, knowing there's no way Trump can do a single push up.

He just needs to practice enough so that 2 push-ups is a cinch. :hihi:

I don't know if he's got it in him, but if Biden came out at the beginning of the first debate and pulled a Jack Palance that would be the only thing anyone would be talking about the next day.

Cuban's beliefs are more centered-left than center-right, but we'll agree to disagree.

Maybe you're right. I dunno. I'm right of center, at least economically, while I'm more left of center on social issues. I just like what Cuban brings to the table and I think if he ran, he'd beat out both Trump and Biden. But, it's probably too late for that to happen anyway. So, I'm just spitballing mostly because I'm not really a fan of the options we have at the moment.

With the exception of the trump supporters, I'd be surprised if the majority of the people here don't fall into that same category.

From Cracked but I could see these things happening

......There's A Big Joe Biden Scandal Coming

No, I don't have any inside information about Joe Biden -- I've only met him once, in 2002, when we were both competing in the X-Games. But I know how the news media works.

Remember Hillary's emails? You know, when the New York Times and other outlets took a non-story and feverishly covered it as if those emails included pictures of Hillary's human sacrifice altar? And how they created the impression that the 2016 race was between two equally-corrupt candidates?

You'll get the Joe Biden version of this, probably around September. It doesn't matter how damning the actual facts or sources are; it will become the subject of around-the-clock coverage just the same.

That's not because of any dark conspiracy on the part of journalists, unless you consider capitalism to be a dark conspiracy (in which case, you know, fair enough).

Media outlets need ratings and clicks to keep the lights on and once the summer is over, the "Trump is flailing hilariously" narrative is going to get stale.

The media's biases are driven by their audience and what their audience wants is drama. In an election year, this means they need A) new and fresh storylines and B) a close election...........

I get what they are saying. Maybe in a normal election year they’d be right. But I think this time, you know, a deadly pandemic and a floundering economy and civil unrest might just be all the drama the audience wants.
