Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:



So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

Now that the skies are clear (per Trump) I think it will be some bombing missions (if we enter ) by long range bombers. Maybe some cruise missiles from Navy.

I dont think we get any sort of troop involvement outside of pilots.

We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured “stuff.” Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.

This is extremely dangerous way to deal with a country which potentially has neuclear weapons and we know they have religious fanatics that has no respect for human lives -others or their own, I fear that Israel and/or the US is going to see attacks that will make 9/11 look small.

I think had Iran taken down some Israeli jets and/or cruise missiles or shown themselves to be halfway competent in air defenses, we wouldn't be seeing these posts.

He'd be talking about diplomatic measures.

Instead, Iran has shown itself to be almost incapable to defend its skies, and that was the opening Trump needed to insert the US into fray and trust me when I tell you how much gloating will be done post bombing.

I have to imagine US intel wouldn't allow any sort of US air assets over heavily defended and competent ADA (air defense artillery)


But I do agree that inserting ourselves into this conflict is going to have consequences down the road. I hope I'm wrong, but just another "US playing world cop and its OK when they do it" mantra continues.

Let's not forget, Trump was completely about no wars. 4 months later...

Iran isn't a third world country. It's population is perhaps 1/3 as large as the US, with about 1/3 of the land area that the US has.
They aren't backwards insofar as manufacturing, and they have a history of having fine artisans and craftsmen who can do work comparable to any other 1st world nation such as say the US.

They can do 1/3 as much as us, when one factors the expense and brother of bring a war clear across the Atlantic Ocean, they hold a strong home field advantage.

They hold a rocky mountain advantage as well. When I view landscapes of their mountains I see much of what is like what I'm perched upon here in the Sierra Mountains. Iraq, the Kurtish section, is also much like where I live, rugged mountainous, a hard row to hoe for an invading army.

Iran is bigger than Germany is, or was. They have a hundred million people, and more land area than Germany.

If stockpiling nuclear weapons were the biggest concern, Israel would be on trial. They absolutely dwarf Iran with both the number of nuclear weapons and their repeated resistance / obscurity to IAEA investigation.

But something something scary radical Islamists. Something something only stronghold of democracy in the middle east.

The frucking western hypocrisy...it melts the mind.

I was browsing the conservative news channels earlier and you can feel the vibe someone from his administration were putting feelers out this morning through conservative media streams, floating the idea to join the war to see what kind of reaction they would get.

Of course the paid shills and influencers who ride with Trump will be on board because they're making money regardless of who gets killed. I gotta be honest, I don't trust any politician who is trying to sell me on the idea they were about to have nuclear bombs. People should have learned their lessons when the intelligence community lied about IRAQ having them in 2003.
