    Just wondering...

Yahweh is, by all accounts, as stern, jealous, genocidal, and capricious as any other deity from any other religion; in doling out stern punishments to the sinners he created because they sin, he has no qualms about condemning every human who will ever live to original sin and every woman who'll ever live to painful childbirth, asking a father to kill his only son, order the genocide of an ethnic group except for the preteen virgins, drowning women, children, puppies, kittens, demanding the stoning of women who cheat and gay people,... and all sorts of severe punishments that usually end up with a lot of dead people.

So what made Yahweh change his mind?

What made Yahweh, this stern, jealous, genocidal, and capricious god, all of the sudden have change of heart, and realize he loves the world so much that he decides to forgive all of humanity, and he thinks the best way of doing so, is to send his one and only son to Earth, (who BTW, no one has heard of before, and who is supposed to be one and the same with Yahweh) so he could be sacrificed to him, so he can forgive everyone?

    Any theories?
