So, this week, Mexican President Lopez-Obrador, after all his indignation and rhetoric over a group of U.S. House Reps pushing to send troops to MX, especially Dan Crenshaw, has requested permission to the Mexican Senate to allow a group of 11 U.S. military advisors to enter the country to train Mexican troops in special operations in January 2024. The request is to allow the advisors, and the equipment they require.
These guys are all Army Special Forces, more specifically the U.S. Army's 7th Special Forces Group. The Reuters piece doesn't mention it, but the President's request was for the operators and their equipment to do what they need to do, and they are coming in a C-130 (as per MX Senate press release), which is quite large for just 11 guys and their backpacks.
Right now, a lot of people are not happy with the amount of power the President has given and continue to give to SEDENA (the Mexican DOD). And we know how well all other times U.S. advisors have intervene in other countries has gone.
Stay tuned. Get your popcorn ready.
