Nikki Hailey had to walk back comments saying Texas has the right to secede from the Union over the crisis at the southern border. While Hailey just wanted to prove her Conservative bona fides. She could have voiced support for Texas Governor Gregg Abbott, whose using razor wire and the state national guard to stop people from crossing the border, distinguishing between states rights and succession. But Hailey failed miserably saying Texas had the right to secede and then saying they didn't when controversy ensued.

She's will say anything to win. It just goes to show she wouldn't be any better than Trump as President. Furthermore the Republican Right base is full of extremists who either hate democracy or they're willing to break up the country to get what they want.

Haley would be better than Trump. That isn't really a defense of her. She'd be terrible, and more likely to get us into a war, but at least it would not be a civil war.

Trump never would have walked back those comments. He would double down.

I think Haley would let Trump and MAGA run all over her and force her to do what they want. Haley has no courage of any convictions other than being popular and admired, just like all narcissists.

People are focusing way to much on Trump as opposed to the social and political dynamics that Trump is taking advantage of.

It's the same thing with people focusing too much credit on Hitler for everything the Nazi's did.

I understand it seems easier to cope with uncertainty and the consequent anxiety by focusing the fault and blame, and therefore the solution, on one person or one thing, but the problems in America are much bigger than Trump.

Trump is a malignant symptom of the disease, but he is not the underlying cause of the disease.

I should have said pressured as opposed to forced. Haley gives in to pressure which is not the same as being forced to do something.

It's my opinion that the deceptive bad actors are worse than the obvious bad actors. Vivek and Trump are obvious. Haley is deceptive. People think she's better than MAGA, but she is MAGA. The fact that people don't see that about her makes her more dangerous than Trump or Vivek, because it makes her more effective at furthering the MAGA agenda.

It's probably a moot point, because it's unlikely Haley wins the Republican primary. Even if Haley did, I don't think she would win the general election, regardless of what any polls suggest.

If she got elected over trump, she would be beholden to the MAGA political party. Could she pass "moderate" legislation? I don't think MAGAs would allow it.
Then again, she was recently on the campaign trail decrying how she is not a moderate.. she flip-flops so much

I'm not trying to promote Haley.

I'm just saying she's better than Trump. That shouldn't be taken as a compliment.

I don't think that there is any doubt that a Haley presidency wouldn't be as bad for the country as a Trump one.

For example, we wouldn't have to worry about a President Haley pulling out of NATO.

I was hoping for that, but seeing Vivek made me realize that there will be someone ready to take over the reigns, even if it's not specifically him.

Yeah, policy-wise Haley would be terrible. But she wouldn’t be an authoritarian who would try to nullify the constitution and stay in office after a defeat. That’s the only way she’s better than Trump, but it’s a big deal, IMO.
