My first take so far was that it was very cordial. Joe did a good job nodding to both Republican leaders. McCarthy shook his hand 3 times, nodded on a few things and even clapped once or twice so far.

Republican's aren't totally against him right now. Interesting.

I almost never watch these. Just turned on the TV now, and heard several Rs were heckling and calling Biden a liar during the speech. Just terrible examples. I cannot stand what the R party has become.

Started watching Sanders, and I just can’t do it. The first words out of her mouth were that Biden told nothing but lies, in a slightly nicer way. I have such vivid memories of her standing at the podium in the WH and lying her arse off. She makes me sick.

I turned it off, so I didn’t hear it. But don’t forget one of her worst lies involved claiming that multiple FBI agents had reached out to the WH in support of Comey’s firing. That one was so bad she had to make a retraction. She called her statement that the FBI largely wanted Comey fired “a slip of the tongue” as if she just stumbled over a word rather than tell a bald-faced lie.

This is objectively true. This woman has parroted QAnon conspiracy theories, put forth anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, put forth 911 crazy conspiracy theories. She accepted invitations to speak at white supremacy conferences. And the R party leadership has elevated her.

Senator Mike Lee couldn’t wait to comment that Biden was lying when he said that some Rs want to sunset SS and Medicare. He flat out said it was a lie, when Senator Rick Scott actually wrote it down and promoted it. I recall Graham supporting it as well, before they have kinda quit talking about it.

Well, today footage surfaced of Mike Lee when running for his first term, speaking at a donor dinner and pledging to work to dismantle SS, Medicare and Medicaid. His exact words were “pull them out by the roots.”

Don’t believe Rs when they say they will leave SS, Medicare and Medicaid alone. If they could they would end all of them.

Best SotU from Biden so far.

He cornered Republicans on SSI and Medicare. They were standing and applauding not touching those programs. That was masterful. Circling back to that moment when he talked about vetoing any cuts was chef kiss.

Reporters will be quoting Repub past statements on cuts to those programs and asking for commitments on no cuts.
