I’m sure much of us are having 2016 flashbacks this morning with a sick feeling to our stomachs..

2 of the last 3 elections Democrats have lost to a far right demagogue

Harris didn’t get close in many states to even Biden’s performance. We could very well lose the Presidency, Senate AND House depending on results the next few days…..

What went wrong?
What could’ve been done better?
What can we change in the future to ensure voters are motivated like they were when Obama was elected?

Democrats have no choice but to admit there’s a huge problem with some aspect of their platform— and to do a deep introspection of what’s going wrong..

This Reuters article states that the base of the Democratic Party wants "new" leadership.
Do those of you who consider yourselves a Democrat also wish that?
*

Yes

It would be nice to have new leadership in the Democratic Party. But we desperately NEED for the GOP to just go away. They are a threat to national security at this point in time.

Complaining about the leadership in the DNC is a distraction from the five alarm fire the GOP is causing.

I agree, but that’s part of the problem

Despite literally everything seemingly going wrong for them, they are not going away. In fact, they seem to be even galvanizing more support amongst younger generations, oddly enough

The Republicans didn't gain support of younger generations prior to the election. They got more of their younger supporters to get out and vote.

The majority of younger generations are opposed to the Republican tyrannical agenda and think they will vote at a much higher rate in the 2026 midterms.

We just need the "Democrats aren't perfect" Democratic voters to swallow their angst this time around and get out to vote Democrat no matter how much it displeases them.

Just look at who came in here to bring this topic up with this recent post. Someone who wholeheartedly supports the GOP. Let him take the log out of his own eye before he worries about the splinter in Democrats’ eye.

They only show up to make these kinds of posts when the tyrant Trump and his fellow Republican tyrants are losing public support and need damage control. They 'bout to get real active on here.

I just finished my 183 days of teaching. I have more time on my hands for a few days. Yet June 28th my wife and I will be taking a Singapore Airlines flight....not returning until July 13th. I don't think I'll be posting or bothering California liberals much.

The snark due to blunt truth is strong in this one.

That’s good. Because when Mrs. Bird and I go on vacation we won’t be bothering Florida or NJ reactionaries much.

You act like being California is bad.
It’s one of the most populous states in the country.
It’s got one of the best economies in the country .
Heck, it’s one of the best economies in the world.

I lived in southwest LA the first 30 years of my life and have lived in Los Angeles for the second 30 years of my life. I have no intentions of ever moving back to Louisiana. There's a lot I love about it, but there's a lot that I don't want to be a part of my life ever again, and I'm not referring to political matters.

“California’s fourth-ranked economy is also tops in unemployment, poverty and deficits”

If California’s economy is booming, as Newsom boasts, one might wonder why the state’s unemployment rate is the third highest in the nation, with more than a million jobless workers, and why its poverty rate is the nation’s highest.

One might also wonder why, if California’s economy is so healthy, the state budget is experiencing chronic multi-billion-dollar deficits.”

There's not a deceiving partial truth you can resist spewing is there? You're the Paul Revere of misleading right wing propaganda. Do you run around saying "if the US economy is so great why do they have one of the highest unemployment rates, such a high poverty rate and chronic double-digit trillion dollar debt?" Of course you don't say that, because you have different standards for the things you consider conservative and liberal.

Knowing the answers to these questions is more useful than the out of context stats you quoted. I'm sure you won't respond to any of these:
  1. What determines if someone is counted as unemployed? How long does the average person stay unemployed? What percentage of people are considered no longer in the workforce/seeking work?
  2. What factors are causing poverty in California? What is the average income of those in poverty compared to the average income of those in poverty in other states? How does CA's Medicaid benefits and qualifications compare to other states?
  3. What is the debt to revenue ratio of California? How does that ratio compare to other states? Why is California spending more money than they have and what are they spending it on? It's easy to not deficit spend if you don't pay for public services and assistance. It's also easy not to deficit spend when you get more money from the federal government than you give them. CA gives more money to the federal government than it receives. In other words, CA is helping to pay for the expenses of other states as well as their own expenses, but no other states are helping to pay any of CA's expenses.
If you get that information you'll see that CA is one of the healthiest states in the country, if not the healthiest, despite all of the misleading right wing propaganda and flat out lies.

Would you rather have Cali’s economy or West Virginia’s?
Or Mississippi.
Or Arkansas.

I’ll even go a step further. All of the major economic cities are liberal.
I’ll even go local.
The economy that keeps Louisiana going is the New Orleans economy. And that city is liberal.
Same with Atlanta and Georgia.
Or Dallas and Houston in Texas.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all of the richest, biggest economies in the country are blue while the poorest parts of the country are blood red.

Some people in the Appalachian states are so poor and neglected that Doctors Without Borders are helping those people. It's the only place in the entire US that Doctors Without Borders is helping someone. Just for context, all of the other places Doctors Without Borders provides healthcare assistance are in third world countries. Yeah, parts of the Appalachian states are that bad. Now remind me again who controls those states' legislatures?

To preempt any dishonest denying of this fact.

Doctors Without Borders

This is a secular international provider of medical aid.
