The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

Just in case you missed it, they are still appointing Federal Judges during this lame duck session.

Why it matters: It's the sixth Trump-appointed district judge the Senate has confirmed since Election Day, breaking with the body's tradition against approving nominees of a lame-duck president.

    • Even after losing the presidential election, Trump and Republicans have continued to reshape the judiciary at a blistering pace with a slew of young, conservative judges.
    • The Senate had only once approved the nominee of a president who lost re-election since 1987, Brookings Institution fellow Russell Wheeler told Bloomberg Law.
The vote comes despite Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein's (D-Calif.) recent letter to Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asking that the body "cease to process judicial nominations" in light of President-elect Biden's victory.

    • "[W]e’re going to run through the tape. We go through the end of the year, and so does the President," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told radio host Hugh Hewitt in October.

Best be sure, once Biden is in office, there will be no Fed Judges confirmed by McConnel unless they lose the Senate.

This one, in particular, completely lowers the bar for all Federal Judges because her only qualification for being any type of judge is that she passed the Bar.

The U.S. Senate confirmed the lifetime federal judgeship of Kathryn Kimball Mizelle on Wednesday despite the fact that she has not tried a case—civil or criminal—as lead or co-counsel since passing the bar.

Mizelle, a Washington, D.C.-based lawyer, will be one of the youngest federal judges in the nation at the age of 33. She was only admitted to the bar eight year ago.

After being nominated by President Donald Trump for a vacancy on the Tampa-based U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, every Republican member on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to send her nomination to the full Senate.

    Pathetic.

    What the actual fork

I forgot to highlight the most ridiculous part of this

" Despite the violent nature of the charges, including an alleged plan to hold a mock treason trial for the governor of Michigan once she was kidnapped, several of the defendants have had bond reductions and are now free. "

Not sure if anyone posted about this yet. The article also says " Beattie’s three-year term on the commission gives him, like other Trump appointees, a foothold in the federal bureaucracy long after President-elect Joe Biden takes office. " (So does this mean that after trump is gone, this person is going to keep his job and is "immune" to being fired/replaced?) :(

The appointment comes shortly after Beattie, in comments made on Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s show, compared supposed efforts to oust President Trump to the “color revolutions” that defeated authoritarian leaders across Eastern Europe. Beattie said those efforts were being engineered by Norm Eisen, an ethics attorney who served in the Obama administration. As he described the case against Eisen, Carlson cut Beattie off, thus concluding the segment.

    This forking guy!

Despite the shortage of space, the proposal adds that former presidents and vice presidents would also be allowed to buried at Arlington, regardless of whether not they have served in the military.
