Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

AI so clearly isn’t really ready for use in a serious way. At least the ones the public has. My brother who is a research scientist says he finds it useful to analyze thousands of papers and show him any that have certain phrases or words he is interested in. 🤷‍♀️

how the hell you get in that house?? lol

"main foyer" is by the "coat bath" - which, interestingly enough, doesnt contain a bathtub. just 2 toilets.

    LOL
    Agree that it looks nuts.

That being said it won’t take a major amount of time to iron out those wrinkles.

While I do not believe that AI will be this massive game changer for all fields, I do think we are in the midst of creative destruction. There will be people who will be hurt by AI. And wealth/corporations will not care.

Did you look at that plan very much? That’s worthless. You cannot fix it.

Everyone says it won’t take a lot of time for improvement, yet we still see this stuff. I still see outright idiocies in Google’s AI result summary thing from time to time. I imagine for every obvious blunder there are 100 that are not so obvious and are not getting reported or corrected.

Part of the issue is that they are training AI on internet results which are already full of fallacies. And it cannot discern what is real and what is fiction it seems.

I’m just not sure how it’s going to get to the level of an actual person with decent logic skills and some common sense. The first thing I learned way, way back about programming was GIGO.

All this to say that I think AI has massive destructive potential, and not only for those people whose jobs get eliminated. For everyone.

Yup, I did look at the plan. While I have never used CAD I would bet that initial iterations had errors before it was generally released. So for something like this I feel that they can iron out the wrinkles.

Beyond that? You are right. It is GIGO’s Law writ large.

The destructive capability is inherent. If it is capable on relatively small things it will be damaging to millions in terms of income and lifestyle. The destructive capability grows exponentially, imo, unless it is done right.

And it can’t be done right.

In addition, human control is still in place. Thus greed and other assorted deadly sins will follow.

Yeah, it's great as a turbo charged search engine. What's going to kill this iteration of "AI" is the tremendous electricity costs. The main reason I'm holding off on using "AI" video applications to produce some of my scripts is because I don't want to drive up electric costs or contribute to electric shortages for people in poorer areas were they are putting the mega processing centers.

It sucks being thoughtful, because I could do some high quality productions of what I've written for dirt cheap compared to normal production costs.

We have to go with ADP because Trump is refusing to release bad economic numbers. Just not going to release them. It’s like we’re North Korea now.

if this happens again for November into Dec numbers- watch out. ( stock market )

Things are going to come to a head, and im really fearful at the same time ( USSC ruling on tariffs, real job numbers, inflationary pressures, wage stagnation and dire economice outlook for 2026 ) which would really rip the market.
