Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

The case she references wasn’t investigated by Republicans in a Republican administration. Yet she blames Republicans
I never said Republicans investigated him. And I’m only blaming Republicans for not holding his fraud against the government against him, and welcoming him to run for office as a prominent member of their party.

I will always blame Republicans for welcoming someone like him. He’s a crook, and what he did should be disqualifying for any position of trust in government. But they also welcomed Trump. We see that Republicans don’t give a single shirt about waste, fraud or abuse. They just want to punish poor people.

“During his tenure as chief executive, the company defrauded Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal programs. The U.S. Department of Justice won 14 felony convictions against the company, which was fined $1.7 billion in what was at the time the largest healthcare fraud settlement in U.S. history.[8][9]Following his departure from Columbia/HCA, Scott became a venture capitalist and pursued other business interests.”

Oh, and by the way, your indignant defense of a Medicare, Medicaid cheat is probably the least surprising thing you’ve done around here. Everybody saw it coming a mile away, lol.

Yeah right. You are only concerned about corruption when it doesn’t involve someone in your party. That is obvious. That is why you conveniently left out that little tidbit of information.

If Scott was personally involved in committing felony crimes, I am sure Reno would have indicted him. Unless you question her professional competence. She probably had better information than you.

I don’t condone corruption or criminal activity in any party. But the voters of Florida who know this man better than you and whom were also well aware of this case have elected him multiple times to statewide office. I don’t have an issue with that.

Trusting the collective judgment of Floridians isn't the wisdom you think it is.

I don’t fully trust anything in government. I don’t fully trust anything in the private sector. But in our system of government, democratic republic, we decide by the votes of the people. It has worked for 250 years. I trust the collective wisdom of the voters even when I don’t always agree with every choice. We have always managed to find a way to make things work.

You’re still deflecting. I never said a word about the voters and you know that.

Once again, because you refuse to acknowledge it - I will always criticize and blame the GOP for welcoming Rick Scott, who was CEO of a company who defrauded the federal government (which means he stole money from all of us) at historically high levels.

They didn’t feel his cheating taxpayers was disqualifying in order to be a representative of their party.

And as for your personal smear - you need to show me where I have supported someone after they have been convicted or was in a position of authority when fraud or cheating was discovered.

Otherwise your personal attacks are not appreciated.

You seem to be saying here that the CEO was unaware of the ingrained formal practices of the company he headed. Is that what you are saying? Rick Scott was duped?

    You’re hilarious.

Okay, this is a discussion board, not a private conversation. You don’t get to say who can or cannot reply to what you post here. Kind of authoritarian don’t you think, lol.

I am saying that he was investigated by a competent AG in a Democrat administration and no charges were filed. So unless you believe that Reno just let him walk for the hell of it, I will assume she couldn’t make the case. That’s all we know. You can assume he was guilty of all kinds of things if you chose. That is up to you. You demand proof of everyone else when they question Democrats and here all you offer are assumptions and unsuppprted allegations.

This case was investigated by a competent AG by professional criminal investigators and without political interference. So if you have an issue with how Scott was treated, your complaint should not be with Republicans, it should be with Janet Reno and the Clinton administration.

Lastly, are we going to assume that CEO’s and corporate officers are to be held responsible for the criminal acts of their subordinates? Or do you want to see some actual proof before carting them off to jail? Perhaps an investigation and trial? Does that standard apply to Presidents and Cabinet Secretaries?

You are more than ready to tar and feather business people who don’t vote like you. You want us to assume Scott knew everything. And yet you will tell us Biden was unaware of what Hunter was doing or how he was influence peddling the Biden brand. You would have us believe that his staff and leaders of your party were unaware of the degradation in his mental cognizance. I guess you also want us to believe neither he and/
or his doctors were aware of his cancer. You are all for gaslighting the public when your party is doing the gaslighting.

Matters not to me what you choose to believe. Up to you. It’s up to every voter. I don’t see where your party is any more trustworthy and honest than any other politician.

Fair enough but I didn’t mention you in this particular post. I was replying to someone else. Kinda stupid to take that personally don’t you think?

This is just more deflection and straw men. Multiples.

I never said I wanted Scott hauled off to jail, you made that up. You also made up this theory that I think there was some sort of incompetence involved in the case against his company. I never said anything like that.

All I have posited is that a political party who truly cared about fraudulent use of taxpayer money wouldn’t welcome someone like Scott and repeatedly put him up for offices of public trust. That’s my entire thesis. It has apparently hit a raw nerve with you. I wonder why that is?

It’s not unreasonable to think that Scott was fully aware of fraudulent business practices when he was CEO of the company. And you know, or you should, that it is extremely difficult to prosecute individuals in these cases against huge corporations. Maybe that should change, it’s worth thinking about.

You seem to take it personally, which tells us all a whole lot about your allegiance to the GOP, or to Rick Scott possibly, no matter how much you protest to the contrary.

And I won’t dignify your personal attacks about me and what I believe about Joe and Hunter Biden. You seem to have no issues putting words in my mouth that I have never said. Yet another symptom of you taking criticism of Rick Scott personally and just flailing about.

I get fired up on here sometimes. I do try to do some self-reflection when that happens. Nobody is perfect. To quote a good coach and a flawed man “It is what it is”.

I have no love for Scott. I simply point out that you have two different standards when it comes to corruption.

You are the one whining about personal attacks and yet blame me for taking things personally. Seems to me that taking things personally is more your problem than mine.

As for Scott. That case was fully investigated thirty years ago by professional criminal investigators. No charges were filed against Scott. That’s all I know. That is all you really know. You have offered up nothing new. I accept the results of that investigation. I wish we investigated all such allegations the same way. Professionally without political influence. That said, believe what you want. That’s is your right. It is the right of every voter. I reserve the right to believe what I want as well. If you can draw conclusions without proof but rather based on what you see and believe, so can everybody else. Nothing wrong with that.

    Agreed.

I said Scott should have been prosecuted. Theft on that scale by white collar criminals is treated differently than some guy stealing a car. Whether or not Scott approved what was done, knew about what was done and did nothing or was clueless is irrelevant. He was the boss. He benefited from the fraud. At the very least he should have had better controls in place. These guys all want to be seen as titans of business. Welp, you want the accolades and the benefits then you get the responsibility. He should have been prosecuted. HCA should have been given the corporate death penalty. Maybe if some of these asshats are punished their companies will operate more ethically and legally.

    Maybe, but I doubt it.

LOL Trump WH resorting to letters to remind countries that the 90 days is coming up

Like a reminder email that your credit card payment is due and if not paid, will incur late fees.

    As if you didnt know.

ADP job report out and OUCH. 37,000 jobs added vs 114,000 expected for May 2025.

and like clockwork, Trump on TruthSocial last night BOASTED " BEst MAY in 30 years! "

Then the ADP report dropped this am and he went on to blame Powell.

as if dropping the FED rate 25 basis points will magically create jobs.

were absolutely farked with this noob
