Most law enforcement are conservative, but they don't always see the hypocrisy, especially with respect to the IRS. MAGA are against the majority of Federal government agencies, but they may not consider themselves hypocrites, since they claim the main job of government is to protect us, so they support federal government jobs related to law enforcement. The disconnect is that the Federal agencies do many things that improve our quality of life. Conservatives oppose most of the agencies which improve our quality of life. They don't like inspections agencies like the USDA, nor the FDA, NASA, EPA, HHS, IRS, Energy, Commerce, Agriculture, HUD, Transportation Department, State Department, Education Department, Justice, Federal Reserve, etc. Trump and Republicans in congress are advocating for cutting or undermining all of these. I think the only ones they support are Homeland Security and Defense, and tepidly the VA, so it isn't stupid to say fake conservatives (aka MAGA) are anti-government. Libertarians range from anarchists to fantasy island dwellers. They basicly just want to be left alone, until they realize how bad that could be for them.

And yet the military consistently votes Republican. As do cops. All manner of folk vote against their own financial self-interest. It's why we have things like Elon Musk. Or, if I were being uncharitable, I'd say cops and LEO types vote Republican because that party encourages them to oppress out groups.
