Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

I believe after all is revealed and there are investigations and charges at some point there will be a lot of die hard trumpers who’ll deny ever voting or supporting him

huh 11.8% say they "didnt vote for either" - wonder if we have anyone here claiming " i didnt vote for either" ?

Indeed. It’s clear there are people refusing to admit the truth. Par for the course tbh. This is who they are.
and I expect the Trump vote deniers fall into to one of 2 camps

    1. Those who truly regret voting for Trump, They are embarrassed and ashamed by it and by everything that is happening now and want to pretend they played no part in it

    1. Those, who aren't ashamed at all, they love what's happening, would gladly (but secretly) vote Trump again. But are reading the room and want to pretend they didn't vote for him

That second group is dwindling as the days go by, but they are loud. They aren’t ashamed of their Trump support. But I find that group is shrinking.
And I do think there is another group.

Republicans who voted for Trump. Say they support Trump, but immediately back away from any confrontation when someone says they hate Trump.

The reason for the hissy fit, as I understand it, is that the CEO doesn’t want his product used to surveille US citizens in the US by the military. This should scare everyone that Trump is hell bent on using the products this way. Oh, and use of AI for completely autonomous deadly drones.

I've said something similar elsewhere, but I'm very much on team, "let's not weaken ethical guidelines for use of AI by the military."

And especially not at the behest of a demented wannabe dictator and his goons.

    And Anthropic issues press release

    Nailed it

Blew the lid off what they wanted to do.

Btw - I cannot stand the term “warfighters”. What in the world is wrong with “soldiers” or just the military? It reminds me of adults using words like “evil-doers”. I know it’s petty, but why use it?
