Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

A new poll shows President Donald Trump’s much-vaunted success with younger voters seems to have stalled, as his approval ratingamong that demographic continues to fall.

Just 39 percent of adults under 30-years-old who responded to the latestEconomist/YouGov poll reported a favorable opinion of Trump. That number stood at 50 percent just two weeks ago. Adults in the 30- to 44-years-old bracket who view him favorably also dropped from 45 percent to 42 percent.

Overall, 46 percent of respondents approve of Trump’s second presidency, according to this week’s poll, a drop of three percent compared to late last month. Similarly, just 46 percent of respondents view him favorably personally, a drop from last month’s 50 percent.

The increasing scepticism among young Americans comes after Trump won big with youth voters in his race against former Vice President Kamala Harris.……

Donald Trump appears to have hung his own mugshot along a hallway just outside of the Oval Office.

The infamous booking photo, which appears to be a New York Post front page, was spotted hanging proudly in an ornate gold frame as the president welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House.

The viral mugshot, showing a scowling Trump, raising an eyebrow while glaring straight at the camera, was first noticed on social media and was subsequently shared by White House aide Margo Martin.

The Independent has verified the image, which was taken by press photographers hanging through an open door behind the head of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles on Thursday.……

Companies have spent about $80 million on projects benefitting the Trump family and the Trump presidential library since his return to the White House, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The staggering amount shows how much financial power the Trump name brings. The $80 million comes from various areas including donations and lawsuit settlements. The money will add to the Trumps’ fortune and help cover costs such as his presidential library.……

Does it shock anyone that the only POC in that photo other than Modi are those with him...?

Donald Trump’s pledge to rename the highest mountain in North America has sparked backlash among some Indigenous Alaskans and Alaskan lawmakers, including Republicans.

Trump reiterated his intentions to rename Denali back to Mount McKinley during his inaugural address. Barack Obama had dubbed the mountain Denali during his presidency, undoing the 1917 designation made in honor of the 25th president, William McKinley.

The declaration of renaming has proved to be highly controversial. The Koyukon, an AlaskaIndigenous Athabascan group, referred to the mountain as Denali for centuries before McKinley took office or Alaska became a US state.

The name was officially changed to Denali in 2015 to “recognize the sacred status of Denali to many Alaska Natives” though it is known by other names in other Indigenous Alaskan languages.

Alaska News Source reported research that suggested that Alaskans are against changing the name back to McKinley by about a two-to-one margin, despite Alaska being a state that is overwhelmingly supportive of Republicans.

Emily Edenshaw, president and CEO of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, told EarthBeat: “Keeping this name honors that connection and recognizes the enduring contributions of Alaska Native peoples.”

Alaskan lawmakers across the political spectrum have reacted negatively to Trump’s announcement……….

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Alaska's Republican U.S. senators have introduced legislation seeking to designate North America’s tallest peak as Denali — weeks after President Donald Trump issued an executive order calling for the name to revert to Mount McKinley.

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, in a statement Thursday, said that in Alaska, the peak is Denali.

“Once you see it in person and take in the majesty of its size and breathe in its cold air, you can understand why the Koyukon Athabascans referred to it as ‘The Great One.’ This isn’t a political issue –- Alaskans from every walk of life have long been advocating for this mountain to be recognized by its true name,” she said.

The bill introduced by Murkowski is cosponsored by Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, whose wife is Athabascan.

Trump on his first day in office last month signed an executive order to rename the iconic 20,310-foot (6,190-meter) mountain in Denali National Park and Preserve for McKinley, saying a 2015 decision by the Obama administration to recognize the peak as Denali instead of Mount McKinley was “an affront to President McKinley’s life, his achievements and his sacrifice.”

William McKinley, the 25th president, hailed from Ohio and never visited Alaska, but a prospector dubbed the peak “Mount McKinley” in 1896 — the year McKinley went on to be elected president. The name was formally recognized by the U.S. government until 2015, when Obama's Interior secretary, Sally Jewell, announced the renaming of the peak to Denali "in recognition of the traditions of Alaska Natives and the strong support of the people of Alaska.” The state had had a longstanding request for the mountain to be renamed Denali but had faced opposition from Ohio lawmakers for years...............

kind of? AP changes ( capitulates ) and then what? Next change either go along with that or lose access?

its blackmail. from the highest office in the land.

its disgusting - its not kind of petty.
With the amount of things to react to, I can't go off on all of them. That's exhausting.
