She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

Trump was/is that bad as a presidential candidate. Historically bad. Racism and misogyny run that deep. Much, much deeper than I thought. Electing a competent black woman was too much for racists and misogynists. They went with the rapist felon.

and before Trump's trials and verdicts many claimed that they couldn't and wouldn't in good conscience vote for a convicted felon

but that's okay, they found to courage to vote for him with a bad conscience

and many who said they were only voting for Trump for economic reasons are silent now

I'm curious if the election were held again next week as a "do over"......same candidates - would the outcome change? It's a great thought experiment. I honestly don't know what the outcome would be. Sad, but true.

Agreed,and I'll say this until my death. If the Democrats had run Biden in 2016 the Trump problem would
never have existed.

This right here. I’ve said it before, understanding that Biden was mourning the loss of his son, he still should have run in 2016. He would have easily won and history would be so, so different now. Trump very likely would be rotting in prison at this point.

But, real life had other plans unfortunately.

All of this is hindsight. I do think another candidate (whatever white male you want) would have done better, but that's just armchair quarterbacking.

The REAL MISTAKE......without question in my humble opinion, was allowing the Democratic Party to trot out Joe Biden again for reelection. This is not hindsight. This was real. This was tangible. IDGAFF what Joe wanted.....you have to tell him for the betterment of the country, sit this one out. You served your country admirably, but sit this one out.

Now, looking at what is going on in this country (on a daily basis)......that decision could be one of the biggest blunders in all of American history. And I'm not just emphasizing this or overembellishing the narrative. All or our democratic norms are getting vaporized. I fear we will never return to normalcy. It was such a HUGE MISTAKE.

Equally at fault (prior to the election) was the Republican Party. Mitch McConnell had the power to put Trump down, but chose not to. I'm sure he deeply regrets the decision now, but we don't get a "do over" in life. It was a critical mistake and we are currently paying the price & will continue to do so until someone with a backbone steps in or the voters act. It's probably too late though. Damage is irreversible. Those inflection points in time determine the fate of a nation.

Another perspective is that we needed Republicans and Trump to win to show the majority of Americans that they really would do Project 2025, mass deportation and all of the other fascists things they are doing. As anti-"woke" as the Republicans and Trump are, they have woken up the majority of Americans in a way that no one else ever has or ever could.

While true, I’d not rest easy until the balance of power in Congress is flipped. Nothing has changed there and I’m not convinced DC is changing anytime soon.

Most of the trump supporters i know, even ones who are extremely loud and proud are really quiet lately.

Sounds like their woke enough to see the writing on the wall. They took their shot and are doing a lot of damage, but they're going to lose in the end.
