Two weeks ago, Al Qaeda’s Muhammad al-Masri was assassinated in a “brazen” drive-by shooting in Tehran. Analysts believed the incident had all the marks of an operation by Israel’s Mossad. Those suspicions were confirmed by a senior US official speaking to the NYT and Washington Post. (See below).

Analysts believe that the Trump administration may be requesting/demanding a late push for transactional rewards for its pro-Israel policy that has resulted in various benefits including US recognition of Israel settlements as legitimate and the recent “normalization” with UAE.

After the al-Masri assassination, Trump signaled a tough posture on Iran and stories broke that he was considering an attack. As recently as two days ago, the US had repositioned Mid East assets.

And now today, Iran’s top nuclear scientist was assassinated in Iran. Will Iran respond? Will there be more assassinations? What is Trump’s objective?

Charges are up to the Coast Guard. We don't know what the charges will be yet, but you can bet with over 30 deaths of passengers there will be charges.
Yeah, and it looks more like lax rules, incompetency, and cheapness were the cause of that. Not some stupid conspiracy theory.

I'm sorry if I missed this, and I'm certainly going to regret asking, but @Ratchet, what was the stated basis for connecting the California dive boat sinking to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard being sanctioned by the US government? And who, specifically, is in charge of the efforts to keep that connection quiet, and why? Do you have links to reporting on this, or to reporting on facts from which you concluded this?

And the charges are 34 counts of manslaughter.

So who gets to the official first, Trump or Mossad?

It's got to be Mossad. Trump is too busy watching "hearings" about election fraud on OANN to do anything else.

Does Bibi (and therefore, Trump) really care if it's publicly known that Mossad carried out the strike? He's been pretty straightforward about his intentions with Iran.

    Oh no...this was calculated.

Now Iran turns its ire directly at Israel.

Who, by treaty, we are duly sworn to protect.

    Yay, us!

Did anyone else hear that this assassination was conducted using a remote controlled pick up truck and machine gun?

It’s the same story as the al-Masri assassination (see OP). It’s probably the same official verifying.

Mossad is not only good at those kinds of operations, it’s also less messy for the US to have Mossad do them. But they’re being done with US blessing if not shared coordination.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it's something along the lines of, "hey buddy, I'm gonna drop a name, here's where he might be at. Thanks."

Trump is most likely the one who pushed for this. He's made no secrete that he's trying actively poison the water with Iran to force Biden's hand. He want to be sure that a return to a nuclear deal is impossible.

It was unlikely anyway. All he's going to end up doing is getting us into another pointless war that Biden won't be able to turn away from.
