The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

    Trump's press briefing today:

"I can't order the states to do anything, because of 'constitutional issues.' I respect the Constitution."

    Next thought...

"Evan though legally I can tell the states to do what I want."

    :facepalm::facepalm:

Many Americans feared what would happen if we faced a real crisis while trump was in office. Well, we are living through that very scenario right now and Americans are dying. This is what happens when people elect a corrupt dumbass to the highest office in the land.

For clarification, do you have a reason to presume that they spoke after the tweet went out? The only reason to believe that is because otherwise Trump would have tweeted "what happened to the phone call..." after the phone call was made. There's literally no reason to assume that.
? I'm confused.. I was just giving Trump the benefit of the doubt that they hadn't spoken yet when he tweeted: "Joe Biden wanted the date for the Democrat National Convention moved to a later time period. Now he wants a “Virtual” Convention, one where he doesn’t have to show up. Gee, I wonder why? Also, what ever happened to that phone call he told the Fake News he wanted to make to me?"

My point was that with the number of times Trump has said something that is well known to be false, and the number of times he has tried to rewrite history that everyone else is clearly aware of....I can see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I think it's just as easy to believe that Trump had already talked to Biden on the phone, but he figured he could take a shot at Biden in his tweet since it wasn't well known that the phone call had already occurred.

Gotcha. Yes you're correct, he has not earned any benefit of the doubt.. but I gave it to him there anyways because it's a dumb thing to lie about and... Lol like I said, I know he hasn't earned it.

That's fair, I guess...I mean, it's not like Trump has lied about dumb things fairly regularly. ;)

President Trump’s reelection is in danger, but he has found a ray of hope: If the voting in November can be as difficult and chaotic as possible, he just might pull out a victory.

All he has to do is stop states from allowing everyone to vote by mail.

So on Twitter and in his daily campaign appearances disguised as coronavirus briefings, Trump has begun a an effort to convince everyone — or at least Republicans — that any election conducted mostly with mail ballots would be inherently illegitimate and must not be allowed.......

Until this pandemic, when Democrats began pushing for everyone to be allowed to vote by mail to reduce reliance on crowded polling places, Republicans, both the elite and the rank-and-file, didn’t have much of a problem with absentee or mail voting.

In fact, a new Reuters poll finds that 72 percent of adults, including 65 percent of Republicans, support a requirement for mail-in ballots to protect voters in the event of continued coronavirus spread.

And it’s not the case that mail balloting as it exists now benefits Democrats. As political scientist Charles Stewart III points out:

First, in 2016 Democrats and Republicans availed themselves of mail ballots at roughly the same rates. Second, older voters are more likely to use mail ballots than younger voters — a demographic that has skewed Republican in recent years.

Among those who vote by mail is one older voter by the name of Donald J. Trump. When he said in Tuesday’s briefing, “I think mail-in voting is horrible,” a reporter then pointed out that Trump himself votes by mail, to which he responded, “Because I’m allowed to.”

In other words, there are good mail votes, which are cast by Republicans, and bad mail votes, which are cast by Democrats.

That distinction will allow Trump’s supporters, millions of whom already vote by mail, to resolve the cognitive dissonance that this new campaign against mail voting will produce............

In fairness, there was that time Obama wore a brown suit. Oh and the time a Marine held an umbrella over Obama. Or who could forget when the pride of the nation was wounded that time Obama wore a bike helmet.

And the time he used dijon mustard instead of yellow?! Good Lord that guy was out of touch.

Khaki suit. Very. very popular in the South for 40-50 years.

Most recent threat debunked. He hasn’t even bothered to nominate people to fill a lot of these open positions. Congress isn’t the hold up.

This has to be the absolute worst executive performance by a president of the US. He speaks loudly, but carries no stick, so to speak.

He doesn’t want to make any of the tough decisions (remember when the states were responsible for finding their own vents and getting their own PPE and testing?). Now when it comes time to start to reopen in some ways, he wants to pretend he has all this power. Just like he has always done, he’s first in line to claim credit for what he didn’t do.

Problem is almost all the governors quit listening to him weeks ago when he basically told them they’re on their own. Most people are doing the same. His daily um, performances, are hurting him with everyone except his most devoted followers. (The ones who would applaud him for killing someone on Fifth Avenue.)

Everyone else see this for what it is, a man so completely and pathologically egocentric that he cannot go without an audience, even if it’s basically a captive audience, and even if it is hurting his approval ratings. He’s pretty much giving the Democrats all the ammunition they need for the campaign.

As the Trump administration discouraged mask use for the public, the National Security Council secured a personal stash of 3,600 masks for White House staff. A senior NSC appealed to Taiwan on March 14 for a donation of hundreds of thousands of surgical masks. At the time, the Trump administration was discouraging Americans from wearing masks, saying that healthy people didn’t need them and that the gear should be saved for medical workers. Stay tuned..
