I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

And so it's a simple step to go from calling Trump a liar to calling everybody that voted for him or may vote for him liars.
Such an easy thing that it's being done right here, right now, with people denying that they're doing it.
    Amazing.

Did Pence lie when he said Trump didn't downplay the Coronavirus?

And BF, for someone who doesn’t like women in power positions, or working for that matter, you sure care about what they say

Oh look, the go to move, "you're a bigot!!"

You can't back that up, but I am sure that never slowed you down before.

Yeah, it may take a few seconds for the digital signature process..but, it's undeniable that issuing paper checks to everyone is going to take significantly longer than pressing a few buttons and direct depositing the majority of them.
Anybody who paid taxes and got a refund electronically in 2018 and 2019 gets a direct deposit, not a paper check.
The only people who get paper checks are the ones who don't have an electronic deposit file set up with the IRS.
BTW, the IRS is setting up a website for those who don't have electronic deposit, so they can set it up and not have to wait for a paper check.

In short, this whole thing about paper checks for everybody and physical signatures is totally, completely fabricated nonsense.

So just for the record- Is socialism only ok if it helps you personally or only when it bails out capitalism as a whole?

Trump is so proud of his best socialism, he wants to sign all the checks so every American knows he is the Biggest supporter of socialism for citizens and corporations alike.

    On another note:

If you are out of work, or your business is closed, and claim you are a true conservative - you should reject this money and any and all help from the government. If you lose all you own, so be it- let the market decide.

Choosing socialism now only shows lack of mettle and intestinal fortitude. Would you give up your god too if the situation arises? Have you even pulled on your bootstraps for god sakes? Sad!

    Exactly!

What Americans don't have boot straps?

    O'rly.

You know for a fact that, by law, POTUS can sign treasury checks?
Hmmm . . . good point! I only considered the physical process, not the legality.
Also, it seems there have been issues about Mnuchin's signature in the past, so much so that he altered it!

Was there a timeline on when the site was expected to be completed? I file my pop's taxes every year since he retired but I haven't completed them for last year. Just looking to find out if I need to go ahead and complete them now. He usually has to pay federal and state taxes.

Regarding medical supplies to New York's hospitals:

THE VICE PRESIDENT: (Inaudible) the 200,000 going out tomorrow —

REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCZYK: The 200,000 is going out as we speak.

THE VICE PRESIDENT: You might want to be very specific about that.

REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCZYK: It’ll be — it’ll be delivered tomorrow.

    Q Can I ask a question?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Let me — let me be clear on that, if I can. What Jared announced, what the Admiral just unpacked is that pallets are being loaded right now to send 200,000 N95 masks —

    REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCZYK: N95 respirators.

    (Note the deception from VP)
THE VICE PRESIDENT:to New York City to the public health hospitals.

(Note the correction by the Adm)
REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCYZK: To the public health warehouse in New York City.

(that exchange between VP and the Adm went on one more time but it was omitted from the WH transcript, btw Pence looked pissed afterwards)

THE VICE PRESIDENT: To all the healthcare workers: Help is on the way.

Q We’ve hearing from governors, sir, saying they can’t get the medical equipment that they need.
And the reason for that is because, according to governors and also by the fact that we haven’t seen any numbers up there about what is going to the private sector, can you tell us what percentage of the supplies on these large cargo planes are going to private companies versus FEMA, versus the states? Is it 80 percent?

REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCYZK: So FEMA is — so this product that we’re moving is primarily commercial product that would enter the commercial system and be distributed through financial business transactions between hospitals and these distributors.

Q So, just to clarify that, that explains why states say they’re bidding like they’re on eBay, because the supplies are going to the private sector and then they have to go there to get the supplies.

REAR ADMIRAL POLOWCYZK: That’s normally how things –that’s normally how things work, right? So I’m not here to disrupt a supply chain and say — look, these six distributors — six, seven — they have six to seven hundred warehouses. They have trucks to go to the hospital door every day. We’re bringing product in. They’re filling orders for hospitals, nursing homes, like normal. I’m putting volume into that system.

Once again, this administration has chosen deception en lieu of honesty. They claim to be pure America first capitalist, but they lie by saying that they were providing equipment directly to the hospitals instead of private distributors. I guess they would rather be called socialist than capitalist?

Bravo to the Adm for not capitulating to the VP.

The federal government did not shut your business down. The state, whichever one you live in, did.

The federal government owes you nothing.

    That is incorrect...

Just a little history lesson... That is what the Civil war was about... All those little stars in the Canton belong to and are united under the Federal Government of the USA... The Confederate states were fighting that they had the rights to uphold and make their own laws and govern without being told what to do by the Federal Government. And since the North won... The states are under Federal Government control....

So moving a little further along here.

My opinion is mine and mine alone - That's the beauty of Freedom.. I can watch CNN and Fox news, Read Reuters and watch Sesame Street... And I can make my own Opinion based upon my age, life experiences, current situations etc... It's wonderful... I do it everyday and express it here often... Without being told what to say or think...

I would never trade my humanity for patriotism - Oh, I'll bet if a foreign country was invading Oregon and gonna take your home, property and put you and your family in a prison camp that you'd chose patriotism real fast...

It's funny... We don't have that first Amendment just because a bunch of old men were being nice.

The federal government did not shut your business down. The state, whichever one you live in, did.

The federal government owes you nothing.
That is correct and exactly what I said.
Not my problem if the state needs help of the Federal government.

I never questioned your intellect. I questioned your broad attempt to bring in your socialist agenda during a black swan event. Its dishonest.

Again, if the market dictated that I have to close business (lack of revenue, bad business practices, inventory that doesn't have a demand, ect...) then yes, I would not expect a dime from the government. However, since the state told me I had to close my business then the state is obligated to reimburse me so that I can pay my land lord, pay my workers, pay my creditors, pay the state( that will happen).

The state didnt shutter your doors.

They requested that people stay home. At the behest of the Federal govt in conjunction with the FEDERAL COVID task force.

Furthermore, your obligations can be placed on hold as well.

The "market" im assuming you speak of is the market for your goods/services. Not broader overall market. Which, coincidentally affects your smaller market. ITs all connected.

    BF, you’re not a bigot I don’t think.

    Now misogynistic........

I think that may be a misconception. If, for example, I was going to vote for one of the Democratic candidates for President, it would probably be Tulsi. There is just something about her that I find really attractive.

This may turn out to be one of those times you would have been better off asking what happened to him rather than telling him.

im simply clarifying. He seems to be under the impression that the state created his woes.

Coronavirus did. And unfortunately, it caused the federal government to act accordingly.

I think many would have rather had a slow, draw down - but that would have simply extrapolated this out months and months. This is a quick resolution to get back to business as fast as possible in hopes that most abide by the rules and we come out the other side.

This may be one of those times where he finally understands that in business, you have to be prepared for the unexpected, just as us individuals do. You mitigate as much as possible, and when something that arises OUTSIDE of your mitigation efforts, hope that the Feds step in to assist.

im not trying to be devisive here. Im simply pointing out his angst is misplaced.

i lost half of my business ( compared to 2019 ) - i dont qualify for CARES act, i dont qualify for employee payroll due to $100,000 cap ( as an employee of my employer ) and i dont get to apply to the SBA for loan/grant. That doesnt bother me in that 90% will receive help. Im good. I was prepared. Do i like having to dip into my rainy day fund? not all that much, but then thats why i saved one.

But to listen to people talk about how the STATE should be responsible is simply misguided. The states are acting upon guidance from the Administration. If the Administration is NOT providing guidance, then we have a whole other set of issues. ( and i think its the latter, not the former )

Hoping things work out for yah.

Hoping things work out for yah.

either they will or wont, but either way im empathetic to his woes and feel terrible if he has had to shutter his business. No one wanted to have to deal with any of this to start a new decade.

But its here. And laying blame for the results is counter-productive.

Honestly, and ive been vocal since the outset, if you really look to lay blame, focus attention across the Pacific. China's lack of attention and hiding of facts made this pandemic what it is today.
