Is it wrong for me to say how much Bernie supporters annoy the fork out of me? And I say this as someone who supported him to the very end in 2016.

    Every candidate has annoying supporters.

    What's new?

As long as you vote for him when he becomes the nominee, I don't think it's an issue.

Question is what happens if he doesn't? There so much vitriol amongst some that they're actively threatening to revolt and stay home if he doesn't get the nomination.

I mean, there are crazies everywhere. Maybe it's just young people, the majority of whom support him? I don't think it would be anywhere near that personally. But I'm not saying there aren't crazies out there. But anywhere near the situation if someone like Trump were impeached? No way

I think what GA is getting at is the almost “cult of personality“ feel I get from some Bernie supporters, a not insignificant portion. And the very real idea that they will stay home if he isn’t the nominee. Like if it’s not him, they won’t vote for anybody else, which would probably guarantee us four more years of Trump.

    It’s a bit concerning.

I had this conversation with a friend not long ago. Democrats will often not vote for another Democrat if it's not "their guy." Even if the two candidates are very close and the voter completely loathes the other ticket's nominee. However, Republicans will almost always vote for another Republican even if it's not their favorite. Even if they despise the person who wins their nomination. Its one of the ways they continue to win.

I also think youd get a much stronger turnout of Democratic voters if Sanders were the nominee than were Biden, simply because so many young people support him and Biden simply doesn't come near as close to exciting that base. We'll see. I'm already narrowing it down to these two as I believe they're the finalists. In a few months we probably won't have to rely on hypotheticals anymore as we should know who the likely nominee is.

I don’t think I agree with that, but you are correct in that we will see.

Upon reflection, you could be right about democratic voters and you are surely right about young voters, but I also believe if Sanders is the nominee it will drive Republican turnout in a way that Biden doesn’t.

A Sanders ticket might also depress independent voters, IMO. That’s a trickier question though.

All good counterpoints. It is my thought though that with a higher turnout I really don't worry about the number of Republican voters even if it is higher than last election cycle. I think in any scenario, Democratic voters if they turn out have the edge numbers wise.

Also, independent voters defecting from Trump back to Sanders, in a reversal of what we saw in 2016 - - has already started happening. For reference : https://www.npr.org/2017/08/24/5458...voters-ended-up-supporting-trump-survey-finds

Again, it could all be for naught if Biden surges or Buttigieg or Warren take early states. I will vote for whoever the Dem nominee is and i hope everyone else does. IMO someone who takes 3/4 or so states on Feb 3rd will probably win. Excited that it is all weeks away!

So Iran shoots down a plane that took off from an Iranian airport in Iran. Nothing has happened in Iran in regards to the US and our allied forces in Iran, disregard that Iran killed maybe a thousand of its own people in political protests. Terrorists go bye bye in Iraq. Iran shoots missiles into Iraq with little damage. Iran tells everyone they are standing down. Trump says all is well. Hours later Iran lets a airliner take off from Iran and Iran shoots down the plane. This wasn't part of a tit for tat, this was Iran being very stupid and being very bad at their jobs. And now since WWIII did not happen, this is now Trumps fault. Because..........Orange man bad.

We can only be accountable for our leaders.. You know, in our country.. As citizens who vote. That doesn't excuse Iran's actions, but one has to look very deeply at this as we are about to potentially elect a new leader.

A day after vaporizing a foreign General as a tit for tat move that you mentioned, Trump says 'we have god on our side'.

Well congrats, our leader and the leader of ISIS have something in common.

We all lost a little light in this dark world today.
Let us pause and consider the greatness that could have been. Please don't drool on your cell phone. OK, that's long enough. :hihi:

Well I hate to tell you that the the actions trump took were exceptionally bad. The president for killing a nations top general when not in an active war was not set before. Plain an simple. You can type as much 🍊 man bad shirt you want it has never been done before.

With his actions throughout the area lately like giving turkey the Intel on our allies and allowing the slaughter of those allies because of his Istanbul business interest was horrible. That was slightly more than 🍊 man bad. That was letting our allies know just how much we can't be trusted.

It is kinda stupid to pick a fight with someone so much smaller than you and not expect haymakers to be thrown at everything that moves.

He will and should get blame from everyone for the actions he took to escalate this.

Thanks Moose, I forgot just how pleasant that part of the world was before orange man bad got involved.
