    Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

    And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

    What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

    "We can't do that to the country",

    "A trial would tear the country apart",

    "For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

    Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

    So TS/SIC docs are numbered and monitored. So when folks ask why a Judge would sign off on warrant, the feds KNEW who last had and what they had.

    Reading now over 700 classified docs.

    Crazy.
    I’ve heard it was 700 pages.

    Well looking at the pictures of the boxes it is not 700 pages by a long shot.

    When the pics show enough boxes to fill a small box truck he had a actual ton of stuff or more.

    700 pages would fill one box.

    I don’t think everything they took was classified.

    300 classified documents could easily be 700 pages of documents.

    Because it's a complete disaster. They filed it as a new action (presumably because they thought that if they filed it at the Fort Pierce courthouse it would be assigned to a Trump-appointee because she's the only judge there). It's on the civil docket. They didn't notify the court of the related action (the search warrant). They didn't state a cause of action or name a defendant. They served the US Attorney by certified mail but they didn't have a summons issued.

    It's genuinely one of the most steaming piles of garbage I have seen filed in federal court by a represented party. It makes no sense.

    And this is why you hire a good lawyer, lol. Much better than my wrong response. :ROFLMAO:

    In my defense, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express circa 2015.

    You weren’t wrong though that a new suit will always be assigned to a district judge and not a magistrate.

    If anyone wants to see what Clown Team Trump should have filed, Rick Perry’s lawyers today showed them. It’s the same basic relief - but done properly. Some of the arguments are still weak (plus he’s a sitting member of Congress not a private citizen like Trump) but it’s an action seeking return of seized property and an immediate injunction. This is what a proper federal filing looks like (then compare to that dog shirt Trump filed).

    No one as ever been as innocent as him. The most innocent man in history
    =====================================

    .....Shortly before 9 AM, Trump opened with the always effective opener, “Even though I am as innocent as a person can be,” before launching into some old conspiratorial chestnuts familiar to anyone who’s watched a Trump rally. He ended with the curious, “it looks more and more like the Fake News Media is pushing hard for the Sleaze to do something that should not be done!”

    One can only assume that “the Sleaze” referenced here is the DOJ and “something that should not be done!” is an indictment for crimes? Not clear, but perhaps he is suggesting that he is still above the law, even one he signed. He then pivoted to an attack on President Joe Biden, calling the retrieval of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago “the greatest political attack in the history of the U.S.”

    He continued with a hit at DOJ and FBI leaking at levels never seen before, adding “and I did nothing wrong!!!” (The third exclamation point ALWAYS sells the point!!!)

    Trump then gave a clue as to his possible defense, going ALL CAPS with “PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT!” If only there were a third exclam there?.......

    Trump really displays that essential executive talent of surrounding yourself with good people and listening to their advice, lol. (Fitton is not a lawyer)

    Redacted affidavit released. (This is the sworn basis upon which the application for search warrant is sought).

    EDIT - Upon review, the redactions are heavy. Not unexpected. This isn't going to be the revelation some had hoped.

    Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) is trying to avoid testifying under oath before a Fulton County, Ga., grand jury examining Donald Trump’s attempt to undo the 2020 election.

    Graham almost certainly will be compelled to testify about some matters concerning the defeated former president’s obsession with throwing out Georgia votes.

    Now, the state’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp, is seeking to avoid responding to his grand jury subpoena. He is likely to fail as well.

    Kemp, who is running for reelection, does not want to underscore his opposition to Trump’s 2020 coup effort by testifying to the grand jury.

    Well, it would be politically awkward, but that’s no excuse to not comply with the legal obligations of any Georgia resident.

    In response to Kemp’s motion to quash the subpoena, the Fulton County district attorney makes clear the wealth of information Kemp might provide.

    Dispensing with Kemp’s bogus claim of sovereign immunity (no one is suing Kemp) and his plea for gubernatorial executive privilege, the district attorney argues, “The factual content of his communications with former President Trump or persons connected to Trump can be revealed without disclosing any input he may have received from advisers concerning said conversation.”

    There is plenty that Kemp can tell the grand jury, according to the filing:

    Movant [Kemp] can testify inter alia about the existence of any evidence the Trump campaign or operatives provided to support their theory that Georgia’s election was “rigged”;

    Movant can testify about the identity of the people who attempted to communicate with him and whether they identified as representatives of Mr. ‘Trump;

    he can testify to the number of times he received or made calls related to the Trump campaign’s allegations and demands that he take action;

    he can testify about the specific contents of his phone conversations;

    he can testify about the contents of his telephone conversation with Mr. Trump; he can testify about whether Mr. Trump told Movant that he “got Movant elected”;

    he can testify about ‘whether Mr. Trump specifically sought a “special election” or some other form of relief; he can testify about conversations about “election integrity”;

    he can testify about whether threats were made by Mr. Trump or others; he can testify about his responses to Mr. Trump.

    You can understand why Kemp would be squeamish about revealing all that. But he’s not the one who should be nervous. It’s Trump who has everything to lose........

    I'm ok with it.

    No one wanted to know what is behind the redactions more than Trump.

    Started reading the first few pages and was like "not too many black boxes." Then I get to page 9...
