Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

But yes, they do list every political party and it is probably correct. The worship of one's self is alive and well in this country, regardless of you voted for. I wouldn't doubt a few well know Reps are practicing members.

Nobody is removing healthy organs from children, and nobody on this site has endorsed such a thing.

Okay, I knew there weren’t gender reassignment surgeries for minors, but I didn’t know they were doing a few breast reduction surgeries. I did read the article, however, did you? The original article, not the summary you linked? They found that 100% of the participants were happy with their choice to have the surgery, this was during a period of from 2-5 years after surgery. All minor participants had to consent themselves, have parental consent, and have multiple doctor referrals.

What is it that you object to here? So, is it your position that the government should interfere in these health choices also? Should there be any elective surgeries done on minors without government consent? Nose jobs? Repair of cleft palettes? Anything?

Look, I’m not pretending I can truly understand what these kids are going through, but I trust them and their parents and doctors to not be crazy. I have seen an acquaintance have a child, born female, who always wore boys clothes by choice, never wanted to ever wear anything other than boys clothes. She was elementary school age when I lost track of them. But i know her mom loved her and wanted to do the best thing for her. I also know trans kids have a huge risk of suicide, so we need to listen to them and help them. It would be better, imo, to use the puberty blocking drugs, which are reversible rather than surgery. But I’m not willing to tell these parents and doctors they aren’t doing the right thing. Maybe you are. Well, evidently you are willing to use the government to dictate to people how they raise their kids and how they live their lives. I just don’t know how you reconcile that in your heart.

The true irony in all of this is that people like @Farb, who espouse this ultra religious combative doctrine, will never understand or admit the harm and danger they have caused to LGBTQ+ children for ridiculing them, demeaning them, silencing them and forcing them to live within the confines of their combative religious doctrine. But they will always be loudly self righteous in their proclamation that they do all of that for the "welfare of the child".

I know a lot of gay people, and we ALL have trauma from our childhood because of religion and religious butt crevasses. That's why so many gay people want nothing to do with it. If there's one common thread/experience through the LGBTQ+ population, it's that.

Wait, so they (doctors) are cutting off healthy breasts of minors aged as young as 12? But now that we established that, you new argument is 'everyone is happy with it'.

You also have to support those that want to have a legs surgically removed because they identify as a crippled person.

I also want to tell people they should not abuse their children either. So yes, I have no problem telling someone that agrees to remove the breasts from a teenage girl that they are committing child abuse. The doctors and medical facilities that make money from this should be prosecuted and put out of business if not jail time. In my humble opinion.

LOL, call it removal, reconstruction or whatever. You are still doing it to a healthy child. Are we also prepared to do that for the transable? If not, why not? What is different between a person that identifies as the opposite of abled bodied? Do you think there is a difference between the 2?
