This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Here is another example. Trump is endorsing David Purdue to be Georgia's next Governor. Purdue is waaaaay behind in the polls. Not even close! .......oops ....so sorry, this forum's software will not accept the photo from my phone. I took a photo if a poll that was placed on the screen during a tv news program.
In that poll, Kemp has 60% support currently and Perdue polls currently at 28%

Yes, I’ve seen those polls. Perdue is not a good candidate and it seems the Rs prefer Kemp.

However, the counter to that is Walker-completely unqualified, proven to have lied about his education, his charitable work and the election results. Ahead in the polls by about the same margin. How can the same people not see Walker for what he is?

My answer to you should not be taken to mean I agree with you on the negatives you say about Walker...but...maybe voters watch local news stories or see video clips of Walker speaking. Maybe the Walker they see...they like. They just like him. Sometimes it is as simple as that.

I would say that is shirking their civic duty then. They are actively hurting their (our) country. It’s as simple as that.

Anyone listening to Herschel Walker speak for more than a minute has to conclude he has brain damage.
Wow! That's a really strong statement.
Even though I'm not in a position to vote for or against him, I'm now really curious.
I'll put his name into Youtube and check him out for myself.

I watched from the beginning until 7 minutes 30 seconds.
I'd like to do something else so I didn't view it right to the end.
He's fine. Yes he does not have the supposedly "perfect" speaking style of many current/polished senators, but to say "he has brain damage" is unfair, untrue, unkind....a whole bunch of "un"s.

Un-deniably true? It's not speaking, it's that he talks non-sequitur like he can't focus. If he's so savvy why does he refuse to debate? You should check out past the eight minute mark where he gets a bit rattled/combative on pretty basic questions. Listen to how he attempts to answer the question on what the solution to inflation would be... it's a blur of talking points that are barely related. He makes Joe Biden look like Socrates.

Check out this piece of work...

Ok, that is a massive what the flock.

You know the old saw about anyone can grow up to be president? Well, anyone can grow up and run for elected office. That sure as flock doesn’t mean just anybody should run and it sure as flock doesn’t mean they should be elected.

Of course, on the flip side we do have Bird’s Theorem.

The software will actually accept a photo from your phone, but you have to do some stuff first. The first thing you have to do is process that photo from your phone to throw away about 90% of it's bits. A standard phone photo is way to rich in bits to be able to be transferred over the internet to someone like me who has a third world supper slow connection. In it's standard form I'm sure it exceeds the board software limitations for file size.

I don't know what those software limitations are but what I have done on the main board, (Saint's Report) is to trim them down to 400 x 625 pixies. You can be a bit bigger than that but if you load it up with too many pixies they will scatter too much pixie dust and that will cause it to have too many bits in it's file size. The phone photo of my root tool was 6.4 MB once I processed it in a photo editor I pared the pixie dust factor down to a such a smaller amount along with pairing down the huge pixie size of the thing such that the file size was paired down to only 113 KB.

Then once I saved the paired down file and named it on my machine hard drive I used the photo upload feature to place in in my post.

Here's one of my posts on the main board where I used three of my excess pixie dust removed, saved on my hard drive as JPEG file, phone photos:

I mentioned a photo I named root tool, this photo is root tool. The way I place it here is to click on Attach Files button at the bottom of the compose a post box. It's on the lower left corner of the box. When I click on that attach files button it opens my hard drive, my files/downloads folder. That's where my phone photos download to, and where when I pare down the file size I save my photos too. I may have had to point the board software to that folder the first time, but since then it goes straight there.

Anyway once the board software uploads it opens a thumbnail view of the photo which is even smaller than the small photo I uploaded, but that thumbnail image is a placement tool that allows one to either insert a thumbnail image or the full small image that I made and saved to my hard drive.

    Easy peasy!

Here's what happens if I don't reprocess a phone file before attaching it to a post. I don't think this will work but maybe it will. If it does work at all it will use way too many pixies and cause the post to load in supper slow-mo. And you'll have to use scroll bars to see all of it. At least that is what I think will happen if I don't reprocess it. Anyway here it goes:

Nope it didn't work, the file size was too big 6.5 MB, the board software said the uploaded file is too large for the server to process. But it didn't say what that limit is.

Here's a 155 KB file from my phone. It is my home made mud sucker invention for sucking mud and sand from the bottom of my well. It's almost finished and when I get my weeds all mowed for the season then I will then test it, and if it works I will use it to suck about 15 feet of mud and sand from the bottom of my 140 foot well and maybe that will allow me to place my pump much lower and maybe continue to pump some water from that well even though my well is going dry.

This is a preview of what will someday later this summer will be a detailed post in the Earth thread at Saint's Report. That is one mean custom pump. 10 stages of a standard submersible impeller pump, to power 2 stages of custom homemade eductor jet pumps, to allow it to suck a full mechanical vacuum from the bottom of a 140 foot deep 6 inch hole in the ground.

    It will work! :)

You really ought to join Saint's Report as well as having your MAP board account here. I post in the Everything Else forum there as well as here, and frankly I post twice as much there, as I do here.

In that Earth thread I talk about all sorts of stuff.

Wow! This post is meant to be helpful but after the first 5 sentences I got tired LOL
Listen, the confusing thing is that the software for madaboutpolitics seems to be the same as https://wdwmagic.com
.....and I post photos on there all the time.
    Let me show you....

    *
The fact that I have been on there for years made it so simple for me to get quickly comfortable here at madaboutpolitics.
No one commented on it.....meaning how I as a newbee just jumped in with confidence?....but that is why/how.
    Here is another example....

It seems logical that the same software company provided madaboutpolitics.com and wdwmagic.com with their operating platform. I wish the madaboutpolitics IT staff would learn why/how I can upload a photo from my phone on wdwmagic and then they might magically make that possible HERE as well...making it possible without investing 15 minutes to read my friend's well meaning helpful tutorial post :)

You could move on from George / Clooney, by going to Clooney / Batman, and from there on to Batman / Robin ... .

I would point out that Disney is a mega rich outfit and they could afford a powerful server with an unlimited Internet host that would allow unlimited attachment file sizes without breaking their bank.

Here I would think the budget is a bit less expansive, and limiting file size of uploaded files would help keep the costs for hosting the server more in line. Very few boards allow uploaded attachments at all, so I think what we have available here is on the lap of luxury.

    :)

    I see.
Your point is well taken that it would be too costly to make my wish come true.
Thanks for the enjoyable back and forth conversation. :)
    Time for sleep.
    Good night.

I've stopped relying on polls as I think Trump voters and similar right-leaning people are under-sampled. I'm a big fan of pollster analysis websites like Nate Silver's 538 but I ask myself why don't they understand that the normal talking points of the past have all gone out the window in the era of Trump.

Ever since 2016, I don't feel comfortable unless a person is polling at least 5% ahead. 2 or even 3% seems like 50/50

And with near zero accountability or consequences there’s no reason to think this won’t continue
    =================

Donald Trump’s presidency produced a long list of should-have-been scandals, incidents and revelations of sleaze so frequent that few garnered more than a day or two of notice.

A year and half after Trump’s band of grifters left office, stories of potential or actual corruption continue to emerge, the latest involving son-in-law Jared Kushner and Trump’s treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin.

Like so many before it, this tale will likely fade from notice in short order. Which reveals something profoundly disturbing about American politics today: We are losing our ability to deal with corruption, to confront it and punish it, and perhaps most importantly, to deter it.

The New York Times reports that in the waning days of the Trump administration, Kushner and Mnuchin traversed the Middle East supposedly seeking investments in places such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for a government-established entity called the Abraham Fund, which was supposed to promote economic development in the region.

Yet the Times concludes: “With no accounts, employees, income or projects, the fund vanished when Mr. Trump left office.”
Kushner and Mnuchin did, however, win great benefits for themselves: Immediately upon leaving office, they both started their own investment funds, and money poured in from those same nations.

Were Kushner and Mnuchin using their positions to set up their future businesses? Were contacts cultivated — or promises made — while representing the United States, and if so, what were they?

We’ll probably never know. There won’t be congressional investigations or much journalistic follow-up; it will likely just fall into the hole where we toss everything sketchy that happened during the Trump years, when self-dealing was the order of the day…….

Instead, to many Republicans these days, a “corrupt” official is someone who follows the law even when it doesn’t help Republicans.

It’s an election administrator who resists insane right-wing conspiracy theories about voter fraud. It’s a Justice Department that refuses to help a president overthrow an election.

Trump himself throws the word “corrupt” around more than anyone. Yet he was without doubt the most corrupt president in U.S. history, using his office for financial gain, twisting U.S. foreign policy to target a political opponent, and issuing a wave of pardons for his cronies on his way out of office.

To Trump, being “corrupt” just means you aren’t loyal to him.

And yet, as with so many aspects of his behavior, Republicans resolved whatever cognitive dissonance they might have had in supporting Trump by deciding not that he was innocent but that the things he did just weren’t problematic.

They concluded that sexual misconduct, incessant lying, vulgar bullying, running scams to rob people of their life savings, and everything else he was guilty of just weren’t misdeeds at all. The word “corruption” lost all meaning…….

Republicans have pulled off a neat trick: They have convinced themselves both that everyone they disagree with is corrupt, and that the corrupt acts and practices their own side commits are perfectly fine. They have degraded our entire system, and there is no reason to believe it won’t get worse……
