This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Did you see how Mitch McConnell is strongly supporting Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski's re-election bid? McConnell knows that Trump is supporting her opponent and McConnell told the media that Murkowski is an important moderate voice in the senate that he feels is important.

    Here's McConnell even more recently:

The whole interview is worth watching. My hunch is that McConnell made the calculation that Murkowksi probably wouldn't lose based on Alaska's new ranked-choice voting. So, rather than create strife in the party, he backed the likely winner rather than Trump's acolyte.

McConnell had his chance during Trump's second impeachment. He absolutely could have horse-traded for enough GOP Senators to vote to convict and Trump would have been barred from running for office ever again. The GOP would have lost in the short term but could have recovered its integrity in the long term.

You can't hide the fact that the GOP is still predominantly controlled by Trump. Just look at all of the other Senate and Congressional races in 2022.

Oh, undoubtedly there are unqualified people in congress. Iirc, Walker has a history of domestic abuse and mental health issues. And he is a Trumper. Less whack jobs is better than more.
I agree he's not someone I'd vote for, but I'm not familiar with the domestic abuse issue. What mental health issues? I mean, him being a Trumper doesn't disqualify him. It should, but that's not realistic.

    That's about right.

Thanks as always for taking the time to respond.

Here’s a recent story. He also has promoted a “mist” that you walk through that will “kill” Covid, IIRC, and said some other anti-science stuff. He tried to discredit evolution, with a statement that showed no knowledge of evolution at all. So he seems to think very highly of his intellect for no reason, like Trump.

Oh, and I have read that he is lying about his academic records, 🤷‍♀️

Fair enough, but I don't trust a lot of what comes from police reports which all too often mischaracterizes the facts. I don't know anything about his academic records, although admittedly, I haven't done any reading up on his history. Were he in my state or district, I would.

Well yes, I like that sort of, but what I would like more would be to bring forward for discussion the situation that actually applies to this topic. ,,, ,,, Mitch McConnell is a snapping turtle.

Keep any fingers you want to keep far away from his mouth.

Walker is clearly suffering from CTE. Trust me, once we get some footage of the debates, his 'issues' will become pretty clear.

I'm sorry to tell you, but they stole the mame.
Actual, by-the-definition Conservatives have nothing anymore. No platform, no party, no voice.
I agree a lot of real conservatives are in no man's land right now. There are not many real anti-Trumpers out there. Maybe a handful in the Senate and a few more in the House. It's disappointing that there are so few willing to stand up for real conservatism rather than Trumper idiocy.

Stumbled on to this... looks like he's smart enough to dodge his primary opponents. He probably will refuse to debate Warnock, too.

He’s listening to his advisors I am sure. I simply cannot believe enough people would vote for him in the general for him to win. He’s a train wreck of a candidate.

Oh, and for Dave - he has many accusations similar to the one from 2021 I posted. It appears that the local police are protecting him with their heavily redacted report as well.

    Credit where credit's due.

During his first couple of years at Georgia, Herschel Walker was the best college running back I'd ever seen, better than OJ.

But stay in your lane Herschel.

Lol. Oh man. OJ. I don’t know if it’s intentional but way to lump walker in with a double murderer.

I know, but before Walker, OJ was the best college back I ever saw. I would have said OJ anyways. No implication that Walker is a killer or a low life like OJ, is meant.
