Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

  • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
  • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Maybe, if you have to have police at an elementary school to protect the teachers because of their lesson plans, it might be time to reevaluate the morals being taught in that elementary school?

I guess the best way to morally protect children in your view is to bomb their schools and kill their teachers (and any collateral children). Kind of fatalistic if you ask me. Republicans really are a death cult.

Also, I guess if Islamic Extremist threaten to bomb and kill us, we should change our ways and reevaluate our morality.

You’re confused. No one is trying to take away anyone’s ability to compete. Well, except your side. Nobody is promised the “right” to win. Nobody. No matter how many times you want to punish people you see as not deserving of the right to compete. You want to just ban school children from sports, whether there is an issue with them competing or not. It’s hateful. Just allow the sports’ bodies the space to deal with these issues and leave grade school children who just want to play with their classmates alone. It’s hateful-the way your side is approaching this.

Look up the R Governor of Idaho’s response to these hateful bills. And if you still want to ban these children from participating, then there’s nothing to be said that will change your hatefulness.
 
Agreed. And that particular picture was probably chosen because the position of the second place swimmer also takes some height away. She is not standing up straight and has her head cocked to the side. Plus the fact that Lia is wearing her coat also contributes to the impression they want to convey.

I am confused? You are arguing for males to compete against women in the name of 'fariness'? Your side is so confused you can't even define what a women is, and that is the baseline for this debate.

"No body is promised the 'right' to win". Do you feel that way about life in general? By that logic, you denounce 'equity' and support equality, correct?

I have no problem with trans competing in sports, just not against women. Have their own leagues or something. Compete against males.

Also, the fact you call them 'children' and support chemical castration because their not yet developed minds tell them they are something that they are clearly not is the problem in a nutshell.

LOL. Was not making a point about height, only about the #2 and #3 winner should be #1, talking about living their life to the fullest.

Funny though you bring up the biological difference of the athletes in the photo. LOL

Look @Farb, Putin agrees with you.

Chemical castration? You know that there is no hormone therapy for anyone under the age of 18 in this country. So your remark about what I support is a straight up lie. I would’t even dignify this smear, but it is a new low, even for you.

Yes, I call elementary schoolchildren “children”. They are the ones being targeted by your side with these laws. There aren’t any laws concerning NCAA or Olympic competitions, that I’m aware of. They are all targeting school children. That’s what you are supporting.

Do you feel that people are promised the right to win? In life or anywhere?
