    Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

    And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

    What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

    "We can't do that to the country",

    "A trial would tear the country apart",

    "For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

    Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

    "Hillary Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ speech shocked voters five years ago — but some feel it was prescient

    Trump — the same man who announced his candidacy by calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” — clutched his proverbial pearls, aghast that his opponent had uttered such a shocking slander. His campaign turned that insult into an asset; supporters wore hats and shirts proudly declaring themselves deplorable. Pundits seized on the phrase, debating who does and doesn’t deserve to be called that.
    Five years later, many believe “deplorables” — figuratively and literally — are here to stay.

    This is not a cautionary tale: Clinton probably didn’t lose the White House because of a figure of speech. But it’s a lesson in how politicians make unforced errors. And, in a nation where half the country thinks the other half is wrong and possibly even deplorable, it’s about how we talk about each other."

    She was spot on about Don and the batch of dolts who breached the capital. And we all recall how Don spoke of people. Perhaps american society is deplorable.

    Try expanding on the point vs prattling on. If you're capable?

    More on the records act

    And “no nefarious intent” didn’t seem to matter when it came to Hillary and her emails
    ===================

    Trump advisers deny any nefarious intent and said the boxes contained mementos, gifts, letters from world leaders and other correspondence.

    about the now silent who were foaming at the mouth outraged over Clinton’s emails
    ====================

    …..Remember when, in October 2016, House Republicans launched a series of hearingsattacking the then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her emails?

    Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, who now serves as the lead Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, fumed that “Hillary Clinton gets treated different than anybody else.”

    Another member of the panel stated, “This is the reason for this hearing – the sloppiness, the messiness, and the ability for a secretary of State to do something that shouldn’t have been done.”

    Another Republican weighed in, “I want to know about the destruction – the hammering of BlackBerrys.”

    The panel’s chairman at the time, Jason Chaffetz, who can now be seen espousing self-righteous nonsense of Fox News, attacked Clinton, “The secretary had a choice. She chose to not abide by the rules of the State Department.”

    Taping Trump's documents back together

    And yet, here we are, in 2022 and we have:

    The New York Times: “Trump Gives Documents Improperly Taken from White House to Archives.”

    The Washington Post: “National Archives had to retrieve Trump White House records from Mar-a-Lago.”

    And just for good measure, we have this gem from 2018 via Politico, “Meet the guys who tape Trump’s papers back together,” and this piece from The Times in 2019: “Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Use Private Accounts for Official Business, Their Lawyer Says.”

    That’s right, from the same forces that brought you the chorus of “Hillary’s emails” and the smash hit “Lock Her Up” comes a new spin on an old song, “Do As I Say, Not As I Do.”……..

    Just saw on CNN that the boxes that were retrieved from Mar A Lago did indeed have classified documents in them

    And also apparently Trump wasn’t just ripping documents up he was also flushing them down the toilet (as perfectly innocent people are known to do)

    For about the now silent who were foaming at the mouth outrages over Clinton’s emails

    And not even crickets from the Dems.

    How did they get so completely godawful at politics?

    Hopefully it is because they believe that he is going to suffer actual legal consequences for this, and are thinking that politicizing it will make it harder to get him in handcuffs.

    This is another case where Dems are supposed to play nice and coddle the Republicans, who are actually doing deplorable things, and not call the snowflakes what they are.

    The unforced error isn't the problem. The fact that Republicans can say whatever they want, but everyone tells Dems to walk on eggshells so we don't hurt their feelings is the problem. Letting Republicans get away with whatever they want is why we keep going farther and farther to the extreme right.

    It won't matter after they get curbstomped in the midterms. The new Congress/Senate will give him a medal.

    The problem is that there isn't a single charismatic, genuine Democrat who'll own it. Who can come out and call a spade (swastika) a spade.

    Are you sure?

    "‘Gazpacho police’: Nazi gaffe lands Republican congresswoman in the soup

    Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to confuse Hitler’s secret police with popular Spanish cold tomato soup

    The extremist Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene triggered a wave of viral jokes on Wednesday after ranting about the “gazpacho police” patrolling the Capitol building in Washington DC.

    Greene was apparently mixing up the famously cold Spanish soup gazpacho with the Gestapo – the brutal Nazi-era secret police in Germany.

    The Georgia congresswoman has made numerous bigoted statements and her spreading of Covid misinformation has seen her ousted from Twitter. She made the most recent comments in an interview on Real America with Dan Ball, produced by the rightwing One America News Network television channel."
