    I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

    There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.


    That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?






    Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?
     
    Great article. I read that thread. I’m beginning to understand that this willingness to believe in “alternate facts” is cinematic, at least for some people. It allows them to claim that they are “special”, more insightful, and they are trying to “save” everyone else who is ruled by facts and science. As a meme I posted somewhere says: Anyone can deal with facts. Facts are boring. It takes someone “special” to deal in conspiracies. Someone who is the star of the movie they imagine themselves in. Tom Nichols, IIRC, said something similar: conspiracy theories take root in the lives of people who are bored.

    It's the same mindset that you find in cults.

    The internet has just allowed cults to manifest in a disconnected fashion. Cult leaders used to have to work hard to keep their followers all inside the bubble of their compound.

    Today algorithms do all the work. Cults don't even need a leader anymore.

    I'm about to step out on a Tuesday afternoon and get me a Klondike Bar! Cookies and Friggin Cream too! Middle of a workday and all. Who's got a problem with it?

    Your Cookies N' Cream Klondike Bars are seriously lacking in anything resembling a cookie. I'd like my money back (and a case of Klondike Bars that have cookies in them as well).

    ETA: rooting for a bad jobs report seems pretty stupid. They’re hoping bad things happen to America?

    I hate that they are making Joe Rogan a martyr for this stuff. He's a nice guy, but he's a goof. At best/worst(?) he's the Art Bell of the 21st Century.
     
    So I heard a clip from Rogan yesterday where he was exceedingly amused and even delighted as a guest described how he used to require female comics to service him orally before he would give them ”open mike” time. Rogan was laughing and clapping his hands, and gleefully asked him how many times he did this, to which the guest said about 20, IIRC.

    so, not such a nice guy.
     
    It’s dumb that people are mad at Joe Rogan.

    The clip of him saying the N word over and over is pathetic. I mean it’s pathetic that someone would post the clip without and context.

    Spotify is full of very left-wing musicians.

    Joe Rogan has moved to the right over the last few months, probably for the free publicity.

    Something was bound to happen.

    Joe's rolled over and exposed his soft underbelly. Maybe that will placate the other side.
     
    This clip was from early 2010s. Of him being delighted and amused by sexual abuse of women. I am not sure he has moved right so much as been exposed. To each his own, I couldn’t stomach him when i tried to listen when he first started getting popular. And I like Bill Burr, so I’m not exactly a prude, or easily offended.
