Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

You really just posted "get over it, you seen one before"... LOL
If the person with a penis has the legal right to be in the ladies locker room and there are people standing in front of lockers naked for example, yes, get over it. It all depends on the situation and I'm not going to go through all the possibilites. It isn't a simple yes or no question.

"You don't have a vagina. get over it". How does that sound?

Yeah, fork people-who-are-born-with-ovaries rights or feelings.

Get over it. You're looking for problems.

"The online training, titled “Everybody Changes: Respecting Gender Diversity in Changing Rooms” contains 13 different modules and lasts a little more than 30-minutes. It goes over topics like terminology, the consequences of anti-trans discrimination, respectfully navigating pronouns and resolving misgendering.

The course also uses videos re-enactments to show the potential dangers of publicly misgendering or outing trans people, how to handle complaints and harassment from other patrons and actual trans and non-binary people sharing their experiences of showering in public sports facilities."

"Tokyo's latest attraction: Transparent public toilets

Maggie Hiufu Wong and Kaori Enjoji, CNN • Updated 18th August 2020

Tokyo (CNN) — One of Tokyo's most popular districts has recently added some unusual new attractions: transparent public toilets.

Designed by Shigeru Ban Architects, the two new sets of see-through restrooms have been installed in Shibuya, the bustling city center famous for its busy pedestrian crossing.

Though the restrooms sound risqué, they're actually part of an innovative project aimed at changing people's perceptions of public toilets."

"There are two things we worry about when entering a public restroom, especially those located at a park," says a statement on the project's official website, Tokyotoilet.jp. "The first is cleanliness, and the second is whether anyone is inside."

Shigeru Ban Architects' design tackles these two concerns by offering a toilet with glass walls that -- at first -- allows the public to see through from the outside. But once a user enters the toilet and locks the door, the walls turn opaque to provide privacy."

    Interesting

Are people just walking around totally naked in locker rooms?

Maybe no one should just be walking around naked in public locker rooms. Or at least maybe people shouldn't have their kids in a locker room where adults are walking around naked regardless of gender.
You never have been in a locker room have you? You never had to go to the public locker rooms at the beach?

Again, everything you described is illegal as it should be. Your logic is that since illegal things still happen, we should legalize everything?
If that is what you think I am saying, then I have really failed spectacularly. What I am saying is that yes, we already have laws against any of these things. There is no need to pass laws targeting trans people because they are generally no more likely than anyone else to commit these crimes. Probably less likely, if I had to guess. The only reason to pass bathroom laws is to target trans people for discrimination and ostracism.

BTW, how often do you think groping is prosecuted? Ask me if any of the cases I know about personally were ever part of the legal system. Spoiler: they were not. Men routinely get away with these offenses. Some of them even brag about doing it on tape, and nothing ever happens. Sometimes they are family members, sometimes it happens in a crowd and the woman doesn’t even know for sure who grabbed her. Sometimes they are children and feel too ashamed to report it, that actually happens quite a bit.

Trans people are not the main problem with sexual assault and harassment.

I never once said trans people are the main problem with sexual assault and harassment. I am making the case that why add other 'what ifs' in a discussion to protect children and or women?
You are basically taking 2 sets of people. Trans and kids and or women. Why does the feelings of a trans person get placed ahead of the potential safty of a teenage girl?

Its not about feelings. And making another stupid law won’t protect girls or women any better than the laws we already have. 🤷‍♀️

Why make more laws without any discernible benefit?
