    This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

    We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

    There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

    I guess nothing sets the loins of republicans on fire like some white guy killing people and saying it was self defense.

    Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced a bill on Tuesday to award Kyle Rittenhouse the Congressional Gold Medal for "protecting the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020."

    Matt Gaetz offered Rittenhouse an internship with his office

    Madison Cawthorn also offered Rittenhouse an internship following the verdict. And former President Trump said on Tuesday that Rittenhouse visited him at his resort in Florida shortly after being found not guilty.
    Rittenhouse's time as a pawn will last a bit longer, which is just going to trash his life in the long run*. He's going to end up so politicized he'll have to lean in to the worst decision he ever made for the rest of his life.

    *Leaving out any feelings about whether he deserves it or not

    =======================

    Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany writes in her new memoir that she didn't lie to reporters and the public while serving in the Trump administration because she was trained at elite universities and is a Christian.

    McEnany recalls being asked by the White House press corps during her first briefing as Donald Trump's fourth press secretary in May 2020 to pledge to never lie from the podium. She promised she would not and writes in, "For Such a Time As This," that she's a truthful person by nature and training.

    "Of course, I would never lie," she writes. "How do you get through Oxford, Harvard, and Georgetown without sourcing? Without truthful, well-sourced, well-researched information? More importantly, as a woman of faith, a Christian, and a new mother, telling the truth was in my nature and central to my family life and faith walk."

    Throughout her book, McEnany is highly critical of the press, aside from conservative outlets, and repeatedly accuses outlets of having a liberal bias and reporting unfairly about the administration. She writes that her assurance that she wouldn't lie "did not stop some in the press from spinning things wildly out of context, twisting my words, assuming the worst, and engaging in ad hominem attacks—like falsely calling me a 'liar.'".............

    The delusion is strong in this one.

    Just off the top:

    She claimed that Trump never downplayed the virus.
    She repeated Trump’s lies about rampant voter fraud committed by the Democratic Party.
    After reports that Trump wasn’t reading his intelligence briefings she said that Trump was the most informed person on the planet, lol.

    All are significant lies. These don’t account for her insignificant lies about crowd size and so forth.

    It isn’t simply delusion. She is lying about not lying. Because she has to. She has this image that she has created and it is nothing but a facade, a facade that she cannot allow to crumble.

    Marjorie Taylor Greene said something I agree with
    ==================
    WASHINGTON (AP) — House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy appears to have settled on a strategy to deal with a handful of Republican lawmakers who have stirred outrage with violent, racist and sometimes Islamophobic comments.

    If you can’t police them, promote them.

    The path to power for Republicans in Congress is now rooted in the capacity to generate outrage. The alarming language, and the fundraising haul it increasingly produces, is another example of how Donald Trump, the former president, has left his mark on politics, changing the way Republicans rise to influence and authority.

    Success in Congress, once measured by bills passed and constituents reached, is now gauged in many ways by the ability to attract attention, even if it is negative as the GOP looks to reclaim a House majority next year by firing up Trump’s most ardent supporters.

    That has helped elevate a group of far-right lawmakers — including Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona — whose inflammatory comments once would have made them pariahs.

    Rather than face punishment for personal attacks that violate longstanding norms of Congress, they’ve been celebrated by conservatives, who have showered Boebert and Greene with campaign cash.

    “We are not the fringe. We are the base of the party,” Greene, who has previously endorsed calls to assassinate prominent Democrats, said last week on a podcast hosted by former Trump adviser Steve Bannon……

    If she were to say she's a draft horse then that would be something I could agree with.
    Well, last week she did try to equate covid w/ cancer b/c they are totally similar, I mean, they both start w/ the letter 'c'...

    Either she’s a moron, she thinks her base/constituents are morons or both

    I'm going with both on her. Some of them, like Josh Hawley are just playing the moron to appeal to the right wing base voter. But other's, like Green, Gates and Bobert are both morons and thinks their base are morons.

    It doesn't matter which one it is though, the effect on society is equally destructive.

    This you, Crenshaw? Trying to have it both ways, smh.

    Definition of crenshaw: a winter melon having smooth green and gold skin and sweet salmon-colored flesh.
